Yom Kippur Food Drive
EXTENDED: High Holy Day Food Drive with The Ark of Chicago
Sunday, September 19-Thursday, September 23
Beth Emet will continue the High Holy Day food drive tradition in partnership with The Ark of Chicago. The synagogue is still accepting donations on the first day of Beit Sefer, September 19, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. On Monday-Thursday (September 20-23) you can drop off your bag of food inside the office from 9:00-5:00 pm.
On the first day of Beit Sefer, you may either hand off your donations after parking or remain in your car and drive up to the pod using the typical Beit Sefer counterclockwise pattern. In that event, donated items will be retrieved by volunteers directly from trunks and hatches. Our volunteers will be wearing masks. We ask that donors use recyclable bags.

The Ark will not be providing bags or stickers (listing preferred items). Instead, a list is provided here with the caveat that all food donations must be certified kosher and must have expiration dates of at least six months after the drop-off date. The Ark will also not accept vegetables with a "Triangle K" Kosher symbol. The most common brands using this symbol are Del Monte and Kirkland.

Last Week's Challah Midrash
L'Shanah Tovah!
Happy New Year!
Steve Siegel baked his fifth Challah Midrash (one for each book of the Torah), showing the yin and yang of the theme of blessings and curses found throughout Deuteronomy. This one is for raisin lovers! Find out more on our Challah Midrash instagram.

Receive Yahrzeit Notifications by Email
With a change in our database systems, we would like to take this opportunity to find out if you wish to receive notifications by email. Please contact Shlomit and let us know. Notices are sent two weeks prior to the yahrzeit. And if you wish to be notified on the Hebrew date, please let us know that as well.
Worship Support
To access worship services virtually, please check the latest info/links on the online calendar. Please note that worship services are also posted on Facebook Live. Kabbalat Shabbat Livestream will include virtual t’filah to follow the service. If you don’t have a copy of Mishkan T’filah (siddur / prayerbook) at home for Kahal Shabbat morning services or Kabbalat Mitzvah services, you can get a free online flip book, a discounted Kindle eBook version of Mishkan T’filah, or a full Mishkan T’filah. It’s also just fine to listen in!
