The Imperfect Perfect
The following is a snippet of wisdom shared at one of JSL’s recent senior sessions.
G-d, who is perfect, purposely created an imperfect world and entrusted it to us, His mortal and imperfect people, so that we, the imperfect, can perfect the imperfect world. This creates a full circle of Divine service.
How and why is it that precisely those who are imperfect are charged to perfect the world?
One small example is the bee. Bees are not a kosher species, yet they produce honey which is kosher. How and why? And from our sages, we learn that the skill of the child can be greater than that of his/her parent. We don’t always understand but we believe.
We, G-d’s people, possess a potential so great and dormant that even we cannot access it all for our own growth. Yet, for the sake of another, we can tap into it, share it and perfect an entity outside of ourselves.
Let us each do our share to perfect our world - even in the most minute way.
Never discount or make light of anything positive you do. Know that it is and will be everlasting.
