A Lesson from a Tombstone
Wherever we find ourselves we can glean life lessons even in our visits to a cemetery as I did a short while ago.
As I was passing through the cemetery, my eyes chanced upon a tall, 100-year-old tombstone. Morgenbesser was the family name of the deceased.
Morgenbesser in Yiddish means tomorrow (ought to be) better. It imparts the message of daily self-scrutiny and self-pledge.
I paused and reflected its message, “Will my tomorrow be better than today?”
This was a vital message I learned from a tombstone. As long as we have a tomorrow, we would be wise to plan to make it even better than today.
