HaMakom Continuing Education Presents

The Death of Moses - How Judaism Differed

Presented by Rabbi Dr. Rob Lennick,
CEO of the Jewish Federation of New Mexico

Tuesday, February 9 at 7 PM on Zoom

Together we will study Midrash Rabah and the stories surrounding the death of Moses. The end of Moses' life as portrayed in the midrash is an important piece of Hebrew literature, (which we will study in English) thought by some to be a polemic of the early Christian movement. This text presents a dramatic and instructive story about how Judaism differs from other faiths on some fundamental issues. Join us for a lively study and discussion.

To Be A Man: Stories by Nicole Krauss
In one of her strongest works of fiction yet, Nicole Krauss plunges fearlessly into the struggle to understand what it is to be a man and what it is to be a woman, and the arising tensions that have existed from the very beginning of time. Set in our contemporary moment, and moving across the globe from Switzerland, Japan, and New York City to Tel Aviv, Los Angeles, and South America, the stories in To Be a Man feature male characters as fathers, lovers, friends, children, seducers, and even a lost husband who may never have been a husband at all.
