HaMakom Continuing Education Presents

Medical Ethics in the Time of Covid-19
Tuesday, August 11 at 7 PM - a Zoom class

Speaker: Audrey Stein Goldings, M.D.
Commentary: Rabbi Jack Shlachter

This Program is meant to be a springboard to discuss weighty decisions we all might need to make for ourselves or loved ones regarding life and death decisions.

Medical treatment includes delivery of food, water, and oxygen most basically, and over time, ethical decisions about starting and stopping care can occur depending on prognosis. In this class, Dr. Goldings will discuss the evolution of Crisis Standards of Care. How do we prioritize, for example, who gets the ventilators or ICU beds when there is a scarcity? Rabbi Jack Shlachter in his remarks will address the halacha associated with end of life decisions.
