INTUITION
By Jo Strausz Rosen
Sometimes, people choose a new and better path by following their intuition. Maybe you follow some unsolicited advice from a friend and begin thinking differently about your current situation. Or you randomly follow the impulse to take a new way home and end up saving a life or seeing something that was meant to be seen.
THIS WEEK AT JSL
Prentis and Teitel residents enjoyed a day at Comerica Park this week, where the Detroit Tigers took on the San Diego Padres. Everyone was happy to celebrate another Tigers win with a final score of 4-3. Pictured are residents Lowell and Ruby, Barb B., and Bobbi G. with her Grandson, Ethan.
PREVENT DEHYDRATION
Avoiding dehydration is crucial for your health. After all, water plays many roles in the body, from lubricating joints and processing nutrients to regulating body temperature.

“We lose water every day through natural bodily functions, but dehydration occurs when we lose more bodily fluids than we’re taking in,” says Jennifer Williams, MPH, a Columbus, Ohio–based research scientist and hydration expert at Abbott. “Because humans are made up of mostly water and electrolytes, we need to maintain the proper balance of these in our system.”

We have partnered with CARS to make vehicle donation easy. Whether running or not, you can turn your unused vehicles into a meaningful gift. Simply click on the link below and fill out the form. Pick-up is always free and most vehicles can be picked up within 24 to 72 hours. You’ll receive an initial car donation receipt upon pick-up. Baseball - Kids’ Stuff

As our grand and great-grandchildren are enjoying their summers in camp and school programs, baseball is surely on many their lists of exciting activities. Here is a positive life lesson we can learn from baseball and pass on to our families:

A young schoolboy stood before a great sage better known as the Rebbe, one day in 1954, to receive a blessing before his bar mitzvah. He was surprised when the Rebbe asked him, in English. “Which sport do you like best?”

“Baseball,” the boy replied.

“Do you ever play baseball with your friends?” the Rebbe asked.

“Yes.”

“And do you ever see professional games?”

“Sure, I do!”

“What’s the difference between your games and the professionals’?”

“Rebbe, when we play, it’s just kids’ stuff, but the professional games are for real.”

The Rebbe addressed the boy with a broad smile. “In your heart you have a big field. The two sides are the yetzer tov, the good inclination and the yetzer hara, the negative drive. Until now (your bar mitzvah) they played kids’ stuff, but from now on the game is for real. Remember, just as in baseball, the side that plays best will win. If you want to - you can always overcome your negative drive.”
