Dear Rainbow Day Camp Families,


Is it really December already? Time seems to be flying by, which means we're getting closer and closer to summer! Below are a few reminders for summer 2023 at RDC as well as information on the JCC's Kids Center Winter Break Vacation Days! See the rest of the newsletter for some exciting updates with the garden, and say hello to a counselor from this past summer in the Staff Spotlight!


Registration for 2023:

Mark your calendar! We will open registration for summer 2023 at the end of January. This year, we did have waitlists and needed to turn campers away. Therefore, we highly recommend you register early.


Camp Staff Application is Available!

Spread the news far and wide! We are looking for Camp Counselors, Counselors in Training (CITs), Lifeguards, and Special Education Camp Counselors. We want to build an amazing staff to have the best summer yet! Please share the flyer with all the awesome young adults and adults you know. You can always fill out our staff interest form at jccmilwaukee.org/daycamp


Kids Center Winter Break Vacation Days

Kids may have to wait a few more months until they can run around at camp, but they can still have plenty of fun with their friends at the JCC this winter! Kids Center Winter Break Vacation Days are now open for registration. Kids in 1st-6th grade can enjoy a winter break packed with field trips and activities with their friends – you won't want to miss the fun! Register now to secure your spot.

Counselor in Training

Daily round trip transportation provided to Fredonia!

For teens entering 10th-12th grades


Our CIT program is open to 15-17-year-olds who are interested in a fun and rewarding summer job. The program will bring together high school students from different communities within Milwaukee. CIT's gain leadership and job training while having a fun and rewarding summer. All CITs will be compensated for their time.

Camp Garden

Find tips, tricks, and stories from RDC's Garden Manager Laura Aprill.

We have some very exciting news to share...the new greenhouse is up! With the help of her family and the Bonim Farms staff, Garden Laura has been busy getting the greenhouse all ready for move-in!


Here are some early stages of building...

...as well as Laura and her mom digging the trenches for irrigation. Planting will begin in early February – stay tuned for pictures and be ready for lots of cool things coming up for the garden in 2023!

What are you up to this year while you're not at camp?

When I'm not at camp, I'm attending the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for a major in Psychology.


What was one of the best parts of Summer 2022 at RDC?

The best part of this past summer was getting to know my group, the Rainbow Dragons.


What is one of your favorite spots at RDC?

My favorite spot at camp is 100% Swing Alley. My favorite activity also has to be archery.


What is the best camp snack?

White cheddar Cheez-Its.


Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?

My group, the Rainbow Dragons, actually named my pet turtle, Mochi Waffles!
