Men's Breakfast Recap

Dear Men's Breakfast Participants,

Tuesday, June 23rd was Pastor Ken's last Men's Breakfast prior to retiring. Included above is a picture taken to commemorate the gathering, including Diane, our long time waitress.

Also included is a future member, Ken's grandson, Fletcher. Fletcher said one of his future plans for Ken's retirement is for Ken to take him fishing.

We still plan to meet the 4th Tuesday of each month, including this upcoming July.

Hope to see all of you this Sunday for Ken's last sermon.

Thank you,

John Pierce

A Word From the WISE

Many of us feel helpless to impact the current political climate. I keep hearing the importance of communicating with our senators and representatives. The website "5 Calls" is exceptionally easy to facilitate this type of communication. One can pick the issue(s) that have personal importance, and names, numbers, and scripts are provided. SUPER easy. Thanks!!

Apostolic Respite Center Needs

If you have the means and are able, our fellow congregation member, June Miner, would like to inform us of an opportunity to assist those in need.

The Apostolic Respite Center, who provides assistance to the homeless, is in need of the following items:

  • Men's underwear and socks
  • Women's underwear and bras
  • Lysol liquid cleaner in spray bottles
  • Dish soap
  • Laundry soap
  • Towels
  • Washcloths

Please bring items to the Church offices at Shadow Rock or give directly to June Miner.

Shadow Rock Sabbath

If you're new to the Shadow Rock community, our Sabbath begins after Ken's farewell luncheon on June 28th.

The church office will be closed from June 29th through July 31st. This has been a 50 year-long tradition at Shadow Rock, a symbolic reference to the seventh day of rest.

To reach someone on call, please call the church office at 602-993-0050 and listen to the outgoing message.

We will re-gather for worship on August 2nd at 10:15 AM.

Beer Church Update

"Beer Church" will not meet in July.

The next gathering at North Mountain Brewery will be on Sunday, August 2nd at 5:00 PM.

Happy Sabbath to all!

For the time being, this section of our newsletter will be on hold. Pastor Ken will continue to work on this issue in the community and stay connected with all the families who have been in our congregation's care. Please be prayerful and continue to support the Immigration Justice Ministries Fund as we navigate the next several months.
