WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS TO OUR SPIRITUAL FAMILY!
On February 23rd we will be celebrating the people who claim us and our claiming of them. Claiming each other is the way we talk about membership and formalizing our relationship with each other. We do this during our worship service and it kicks our joy meter into the red zone. Contact Pastor Ken if you are interested in joining Shadow Rock and being a Shadow Rocker.

Shadow Rock Theology Weekend is coming and it is a big deal!
Friends,
I want to extend to you a personal invitation to participate in Shadow Rock Theology: A Theology For Our Times, May 16 - 18, 2025.
Theology For Our Times is an event to explore and delve deeper into Shadow Rock’s unique theological history and identity. The event shares some foundational theological ideas and helps participants discern their relationship to such ideas. We hope that the event raises questions about participants' spiritual journeys and helps them find companions for their journeys. The event brings the symbols of the Cross and the Wedgeblade together, encouraging the question, “How can we be in the right relationship with history?”
The event will use presentations, small group and large group discussions, individual meditation time, music, art, and videos to aid the process of discovery.
Families are welcome, and child care will be provided.
The event is at Chapel Rock Camp and Retreat Center in Prescott, AZ, the weekend of May 16-18. The weekend costs $206 per adult (includes linen service and meals). If you can afford this expense that is a great help, but the importance of this event and the invitation to you is such that scholarships are available.
I am sending this invitation to you as I consider the future of our church and its place in the world. I am working to create multiple carriers of our theological DNA, and I hope you will be a part of it.
Please contact me with your questions.
Pastor Ken

Hi all!
This was a beautiful day full of LOVE. Valentine's Day can be a great reminder to show love to everyone around us. We read a stunning book, “Each Living Thing” about doing no harm to the creatures on Earth. We then discussed love- what it sounds like, looks like, and feels like. It was a great conversation, and we heard from a lot of the kiddos. Next, we had three stations for art- Valentine card making, pot painting, and dried flower gluing. After they painted their pots, we went outside to the patio, and they got to choose 3 flowers to plant into it. We discussed giving it to someone they love or keeping it and showing themselves some love. We ran out of time for yoga because planting took a bit of time. We went into snack and then the kiddos were able to play or color.
Thank you for sharing these kiddos with us!
This is a reminder that Spiritual Play is not this Sunday, February 16th. Childcare will continue to be available in the Blue Room. We will return for SP on February 23rd to learn about creatures of the desert!

You are loved!

Also, one of our members wants to lift up the crisis facing refugees and resettlement agencies because of the recent actions of the federal government. See the information below from Lutheran Social Services.

LSS-SW Statement on False Accusations
For generations, Lutherans have answered the call to serve our most vulnerable neighbors. That unwavering commitment remains at the heart of everything we do at Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest.
Since 1970, we have stood alongside refugees seeking safety, children and families in need, people experiencing homelessness, and older adults. Through strong public-private partnerships, we provide essential services that bring hope, stability, and dignity to those we serve.
False accusations recently surfaced on social media, alleging that Lutheran organizations misuse government funds. These claims are not just untrue, they disregard the decades of faithful service that Lutheran organizations like LSS-SW have provided. For over 50 years, we have welcomed legally admitted refugees, cared for the most vulnerable in our communities, and upheld the highest standards of accountability and transparency. The work we do is honest, necessary, and life changing.
We encourage you to help us combat this false narrative by sharing your support for our work to your congregation, colleagues, friends, family, and network.
Calling on congregations for your support
The combination of the stop-work-order and executive order has cut off critical funding overnight, leaving 130 families who have already arrived in Tucson and Phoenix in immediate jeopardy. There are currently 388 refugees within their first 90 days of arrival, who have been left behind. You are their lifeline now. These are families who have fled war, persecution, and unimaginable hardship, only to now face uncertainty in the very place they hoped to find refuge.
Here are the best ways your congregation can support these refugee neighbors:
