"BECOMING A DISCERNING PEOPLE" IS A NEW SERMON SERIES FROM PASTOR KEN

"As we welcome new voices, new people, new perspectives, and new ways, we do not diminish the value of those who have served faithfully. We simply expand the table. This is not a loss—it is a blessing. It is not a threat—it is a promise. The narrow gate does not exclude—it refines. It does not reject—it reveals."

Looking Real Far Ahead for Shadow Rock Theology Retreat

We are planning another Shadow Rock Theology Retreat at Redemptorist Renewal Center

7101 W. Picture Rocks Road

Tucson, AZ 85743

www.desertrenewal.org

in Tucson.

Put November 7-9 on your calendars. Sign-ups will begin in August.

Dear Friends and Members of Shadow Rock,

I want to extend to you a personal invitation to participate in our Shadow Rock Theology Weekend.

This event is to explore and delve deeper into Shadow Rock’s unique theological history and identity. The event shares some foundational theological ideas and helps participants discern their relationship to such ideas. We hope that the event raises questions about participants' spiritual journeys and helps them find companions for their journeys. The event brings the symbols of the Cross and the Wedgeblade together, encouraging the question, “How can we be in the right relationship with history?”

We will use presentations, small group and large group discussions, individual meditation time, music, art, and videos to aid the process of discovery.

We regret that the facility cannot accommodate children. We will miss them this time around.

The event is at the Redemptorist Renewal Center in Tucson, AZ, the weekend of Nov. 7-9. The weekend costs $335 per adult (includes linen service, meals, and meeting room). If you can afford this expense, that is a great help, but the importance of this event and the invitation to you is such that scholarships are available.

We are offering the Theology Weekend because we prioritize the future well-being of our church and its place in the world. I am working to create multiple carriers of our theological DNA, and I hope you will be a part of it.

For Decades, She Cared for the Elderly. The Trump Administration Wants Her Gone by Sept. 8 | NPR

Aurora left Honduras in 1990 and entered the United States as an undocumented immigrant. She found work in Los Angeles, taking care of the elderly in their homes, even staying with the same clients for years. In 1998, after Hurricane Mitch devastated Honduras, she received legal status when the United States granted Temporary Protected Status to Hondurans. "I felt protected," she said. TPS was renewed multiple times, but this year the Trump administration terminated it, effective Sept. 8. The decision is being challenged in court, but on Aug. 20, a federal appeals court allowed the administration to carry out the termination while litigation continues. "We don't know what will happen," said Aurora. "We don't know anything.
