READING RECOMMENDATION FROM OUR WISE TEAM!

When I read this book last summer, it opened my eyes to the reason for the growing number of our youth with anxiety and depression. I have been recommending it to others, especially parents, teachers, and even grandparents!

Since May 18 is Mental Health Sunday and our WISE Team will be leading the service, I believe it is the ideal time to lift up this important book to Shadow Rock . The powerful information and research in The Anxious Generation will help families and educators deal with the dramatic decline in youth mental health since 2010, linking smartphones and social media use to the rising anxiety and depression, while offering solutions for parents and society.

ICE Reportedly Used Children and Grandchildren as 'Bait' To Arrest Woman | Rolling Stone

When Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Rosane Ferreira-De Oliveira, an undocumented Brazilian immigrant, in Worcester, Massachusetts, they seemed to have used her two daughters and grandchild as bait to lure her out of her home. Agents stopped the daughters and grandchildren while they were driving, and the agents threatened to arrest her 21-year-old daughter, Augusta Clara. Agents told Augusta Clara they could not leave her three-month-old daughter in the custody of her 17-year-old sister, who was also in the car, because she is a minor, so Clara told her mother to come outside to take the baby. Then, ICE arrested Ferreira-De Oliveira and seemed no longer interested in the others.
