We highly recommend the play "The Just" being performed at Shadow Rock. It is relevant for today and it is a great way to support the arts in our community. It is a win-win.
Also, put on your calendar an opportunity to hear about a SR member's journey of healing on April 27th during our worship service. Read about this and more in this week's edition of Rock the Week.

B3 Theater Performs Again At Shadow Rock
| |
Art and life find inspiration in each other. The play "The Just" is relevant to the questions people of conscience are asking themselves today. Come and see! Information about tickets and show times are below.
The play is based on the true story of a group of Russian Socialist-Revolutionaries who assassinated the Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich in 1905, and explores the moral issues associated with resistance to a government characterized by tyranny and authoritarism. In the play, all but one (Stepan) of the "Justes" are based upon historical people, described in Memoirs of a Terrorist by Boris Savinkov.

• Build a solid foundation for healing in all areas of your life
• Be better able to handle difficult situations with more elegance and ease
• Improve both personal and professional relationships

Skip Pearson wants to give you a free book on April 27th.
Skip Pearson grew up in rural Minnesota. He was a lawyer in private practice for 12 years and a part-time public defender as well. He became a trial court judge and worked in that capacity for 22 years. He served on the Minnesota Supreme Court Racial Bias Task Force and was one of the people essential in developing a Domestic Violence Specialty Court that became a model for other counties throughout our nation. Judge Pearson sought a better way for the judicial system to respond better to the devastating harm caused by domestic violence.
Late in his career he found Richard Moss's book, Inside-Out Healing. What he read resonated with him and he applied the principles of the book to his life. This has made such a positive change in his life he is compelled to share it with you. He will give us the message April 27th.
You heard about being in the NOW, but what does that really mean?
(hint: it's not about being narcissistic)
What are the benefits of being in the NOW?
How does a person get to the NOW?
What are the two basic mistakes people make that keep them from the NOW?
Is there really a practical, straightforward, understandable method to overcome these mistakes that help people to return to the NOW?
Skip has asked and answered these questions for himself. Come and hear how we can address these questions April 27th at 10:15 AM

How We Learn to Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith by Mariann Edgar Budde.
Episcopal Bishop Budde’s kind remarks at the inaugural church service in Washington DC to the new US President, pleading with him to show mercy to the many people filled with fear right now, compelled me to read her book. I found it so uplifting. She reminds us that as we face the many challenges that confront us daily, whether they’re about a change in the presidency, a transition in our church family, or personal financial or family matters, being brave is not a singular occurrence. It’s a journey we can choose to undertake every day. I loved her examples of pivotal moments from her own life, as well as from the wisdom of some of my favorite sources. She draws from the Bible as well as from Joseph Campbell and his study of the Hero’s Journey, Rachel Naomi Remen and her stories that heal, Dr Martin Luther King and the work of the Civil Rights movement, and even stories from Harry Potter. As we enter this time of discernment in our search for a new pastor, this book is an especially timely source of inspiration to trust each other and be brave.
I’m happy to loan you my copy of the book, or you can also order directly from the publisher here if like me, you’re looking for alternatives to Amazon. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/705987/how-we-learn-to-be-brave-by-mariann-edgar-budde/

Immigration Justice Work Is Happening!
Pastor Ken has received several requests from the media for comment about current immigration policy and events. He has refused the requests as he wants to protect those people who are still in our care. However, he made an exception with the ASU Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. A journalism student contacted him.
My name is Sydney Lovan and I am a visual journalist and reporter for the Carnegie-Knight News21 program, a national initiative led by Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. We are a team of top journalism students from across the country, and we will be spending the next several months reporting on the wide-ranging topic of immigration and President Donald Trump's promise to engage in mass deportations and implement other policies that would potentially affect millions living in the United States.
This is the program that gave us Vaughn Hillyard and we need journalists who demand accountability now more than ever. Pastor Ken made this exception to support the education of future journalists.
At this point, we are offering the following ministries:
- Legal Clinics for Know Your Rights
- Financial Assistance for Legal Fees and Living Expenses
- Support Group Meetings
- Accompaniment
- Safe Zone Launch Pad
At this point, we are NOT offering the following ministries:
- Sanctuary
- Asylum Hospitality
- Refugee Resettlement
Our next support meeting and legal clinic is May 4th at 1 PM in the Multipurpose Room. All are invited. Contact Pastor Ken if you have questions.
PS. Our Lenten Offering Is dedicated to our Immigration Justice Ministries!
Feel free to ask Pastor Ken about our important and quiet work.
