Cause of injury:
Plaintiff alleged injury due to negligent security by the hotel and the security company. Defendants denied liability maintaining that there was no duty to protect the plaintiff from criminal acts of third parties, that the security provided was adequate, that the incident was not foreseeable and that in the event there was negligence, there was no proximate cause between any negligence and the injury. In addition, the defendants argued that the unidentified perpetrator was responsible. The hotel settled shortly before trial.
