Students Plant Trees at Ludlow for Arbor Day
To celebrate Arbor Day last Friday, the Onaway Garden Club planted two serviceberry trees at Ludlow! Residents of the Ludlow neighborhood joined Mayor David Weiss, the City of Shaker Heights and its Tree Advisory Board (TAB) to plant trees at the intersection of Ludlow and Southington Roads.
Onaway students received support from Art Teacher and TAB member Tim Kalan for the Arbor Day celebration. To continue our recent recognition of Earth Day, the students were transported via one of the District’s three electric buses! Many families will enjoy these plantings for years to come, as the Ludlow Early Learning Center opens in Fall 2025!

Support the Ludlow Playground
We’ve Hit $4,200 — Let’s Keep the Momentum Going
Thanks to an incredible matching gift, every dollar raised so far has been doubled — turning $2,100 into $4,200! We’re off to a great start, but we need your help to bring the Ludlow Playground to life!
Be Part of Something Special
The Shaker Schools Foundation is proud to support the creation of the Ludlow Playground — an exciting, inclusive space designed especially for our youngest learners at the Ludlow Early Learning Center. Built in collaboration with our district, city, and community, this playground will be a joyful, welcoming place for all children to play, grow, and connect.
Your Gift = Double the Impact
We’re still fundraising to add key features like benches, bike racks, picnic tables, and interactive musical elements — the finishing touches that will make this space truly magical. And right now, your donation will go twice as far thanks to our matching donor!
Help us reach our goal today and make a lasting difference for Shaker families for years to come. Donate Now. Play Later. Joy Forever!
