Lomond Student Places in MLK Day Essay Contest
We’re proud to recognize Charlotte Ciriaco, a fourth-grader at Lomond Elementary School in Mrs. DiPiero’s class, who earned second place in her division in the East View United Church of Christ’s annual MLK Day Essay Contest!
Charlotte’s achievement reflects the encouragement and support of Lomond’s Grade 4 teachers, who inspired students to write, reflect and submit their work. The awards ceremony was moving and inspiring — and Charlotte walked away especially proud after also winning a pop quiz during the event!
Congratulations to Charlotte and thank you to our dedicated educators for fostering student voice, leadership and a love of writing.

Photos Promote Sense of Belonging at Mercer
Mercer students were surprised to see pictures of themselves hanging on the walls when they returned from a long weekend! School Counselor Dr. Marla Robinson collaborated with members of the Mercer PTO to take photos of each student and hang them on the wall outside of every classroom. This project promotes a sense of belonging for everyone at Mercer. The students enjoyed seeing photos of their friends throughout the school!
