The 2026 Sisterhood Shalach Manot Fundraiser

IMPORTANT:

If you haven't received the two Shalach Manot emails from Sisterhood, they may have gone to your spam folder. Several email providers (Gmail, Yahoo, AOL) have strengthened their spam filters and are preventing emails from third party services like HappyPurim to go into your inbox. If you would like to participate in the 2026 Sisterhood Shalach Manot Fundraiser please contact Vicki at NSJCPurim@gmail.com (631-698-0469) for your personal code and instructions on how to access your personal order page.

Look for the Purim is Coming email from NSJC Sisterhood. It includes details about the program with links to your personal sign-up page and login information. Can’t find the email? Follow up emails will be coming soon!

This year, recipients will have the option of requesting a box of treats.*

We will again be mailing Purim cards to everyone who is sent Shalach Manot and donating a portion of the profits raised to organizations that are committed to helping people and families that are experiencing food insecurity.

In 2025, we supported the JCC Pantry and Mazon. In addition, Sisterhood donated to Yashar LaChayal, an Israeli organization, that sends Shalach Manot packages to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers. The remainder of the monies collected will go towards keeping our Sisterhood and synagogue strong and vibrant.

*Sisterhood will only make up Purim boxes for those who request it.

They will be available for pick on Sunday, March 1 (9:30am-11:30am) and

Monday, March 2nd during the Megillah reading.

Orders can be placed online at HappyPurim.com and must be received by

Thursday, February 12 at 11:00 PM.

This historical drama is based on the story of Alfred Dreyfus, captain in the French army who, in 1894, is wrongfully found guilty of high treason for passing military secrets to the German Empire. He is condemned to exile on Devil's Island. This affair triggers an echo in France since Dreyfus is Jewish. The film, written and directed by Roman Polansky, had its premiere at the 76th Venice International Film Festival on 30 August 2019, winning the Grand Jury Prize and the FIPRESCI Prize among other awards.

Social Action Committee

For the next two weeks, Joe Muntner and I are asking congregants to continue to bring in non-perishable food items. There are three marked cardboard boxes in the Kiddush room, and our aim is “to-fill-em” up by February 8th, when everyone will have the opportunity to celebrate the mitzvah of Te-Fill-In at the World Wide Wrap! These boxes will be brought to the Suffolk Y to be distributed to the many individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, those who depend upon the Suffolk Y for assistance.

A reminder to all who would like to join our group of congregants who visit the assisted living residents at Jefferson’s Ferry: we are planning a visit just before Purim! It will be an hour or so of fun, and you will come away with such a good feeling! Please contact me if you’d like to join us. Bnsamuels273@gmail.com
