This historical drama is based on the story of Alfred Dreyfus, captain in the French army who, in 1894, is wrongfully found guilty of high treason for

passing military secrets to the German Empire. He is condemned to exile on

Devil's Island. This affair triggers an echo in France since Dreyfus is

Jewish. The film, written and directed by Roman Polansky, had its premiere

at the 76th Venice International Film Festival on 30 August 2019, winning

the Grand Jury Prize and the FIPRESCI Prize among other awards.

Social Action Committee

Just before Thanksgiving, Zachary Ginsberg was able to deliver a car-load of food to the Suffolk Y. If you remember, this was his bar mitzvah project.  Many thanks go to the caring congregants who contributed generously to our pantry! Since November we have continued to receive items that will be distributed before Passover.

As a gentle reminder to all, I would like to emphasize the importance of our ongoing food collection efforts for the pantry. Each time you visit the synagogue, please bring a non-perishable food item for the basket in the coat closet. It is crucial to remember the significant number of individuals and families who are experiencing hunger in our community, and your generous donations can make a meaningful difference in their lives. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to this cause.

Another aspect of the community service that we partake in is visiting the assisted living residents at Jefferson’s Ferry. On December 19th Rabbi Benson accompanied Carol Greenberg, me, and a small group of faithful Sisterhood members to Jefferson’s Ferry to put on a little play about the Chanukah story. We also sang a few holiday songs and lit a menorah. It was an hour or so of fun! If you think you might like to join us when we visit for Purim, please contact me.
