Classroom News
PreK/ Kindergarten:Prek/K has been enjoying getting to know one another and having lots of fun. We learned new songs and brachot, talked about Shabbat and Rosh Hashanah, and have made crafts including a poster for our classroom and candlesticks for our Shabbat table.
1st Grade: The first grade HebrewSaurs are off to a great start. Beginning with the High Holidays, we had the opportunity to introduce the concept of tzedakah while also asking for forgiveness through prayer, good changes, and service. We are already learning several Hebrew letters by creating art, using movement, and playing games. Cant wait for next month.
2nd Grade: 2nd grade is off to a SWEET start! We’ve enjoyed learning about mitzvot and Rosh Hashanah. We had fun getting messy and creative with our art projects, and we’ve learned a lot of new Hebrew vocabulary words! The highlight of our first few classes together was having our new music teacher, Mr. Truman, come and sing with us!
3rd/4th Grade:My classroom is very energetic and has a very strong eagerness to learn more about Judaism. They love doing arts and crafts, as well as playing games that allow them to think fast and have a fun competition with their classmates. They also love when we do open discussions that give them all a chance to talk, as well as listen to the ideas/opinions of their peers.
4th Grade: This past month the boys have learned about Purim, Samson, Samuel and competed in Color Wars. It was a packed month!
5th Grade:
The 5th grade has been learning about the story of Jonah. They have been mapping his journey both physical and spiritual. We have discussed the role of the Ninevites, about being willing to ask for forgiveness but also remembering to give forgiveness when it is asked for. We have been learning about traditions for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in preparation for the coming holidays.
6th Grade: Our 6th grade class has been hard at work learning all about our early Jewish history in Babylonia. We have also begun discussing prophets, specifically Solomon. As the high holidays continue to approach, we will begin learning about how they are celebrated around the world.
