#HousingChoice

Dear Community Member,

The City Council on Nov. 20 approved text amendments to the Spokane Municipal Code as proposed through the Building Opportunity for Housing initiative.

Based on community input and to meet state housing requirements, the changes allow Middle Housing types throughout the community. This allowance will provide greater housing diversity and more opportunity for homeownership within neighborhoods while also increasing the feasibility of Middle Housing development. Thank you to all those who participated!

The code amendments will go into effect Jan. 1, 2024
