#HousingChoice

Dear Community Member,

Fifty years ago, Spokane became the smallest city in history to host the World’s Fair. On this anniversary of Expo ’74, save the dates to participate in the celebrations from May 4 through July 4.

As we look toward the future, this celebration aims to reflect the environmentally focused event of the Spokane World Fair and invite new generations to “carry the mantle of a cleaner and brighter tomorrow.” You will be able to find the Planning Department and other City of Spokane staff at various pop-ups throughout the event, along with local food and vendors.

Planning Efforts Protect Pedestrians

The City of Spokane is always looking for new avenues to improve pedestrian safety. Everything from talking crosswalks to police writing tickets.

But, a lot of our traffic calming efforts get their start in the city’s Planning Department.

Our planners are redesigning Spokane’s roadways to make sure people on foot are more visible to the motoring public.
