United Tissue Network

Can one be both an organ and whole-body donor?

One can simply register to be both, all they have to do is register for both programs separately. A collective misunderstanding is the distinct difference between the two and how they are different. Organ and tissue donation is used for transplant into a living person, whereas whole-body donation is used for non-transplant for the advancement of medical technology, education and training.

For organ and tissue donation, the most commonly transplanted organs are the kidneys, liver, heart and lungs. Tissue is used as a temporary dressing for burns, serious abrasions and other exposed areas. Many organs and tissue that cannot be used for transplant can be recovered and used as a whole-body donation which is vital to saving and improving lives.

United Tissue Network works with medical professionals, which includes doctors, physician assistants, nurses and medical device companies, who are working on immediate procedures that make a difference in everyday lives. A few of these procedures include rotator cuff repairs, bypass surgeries, anterior hip replacements, cochlear implants and the training of EMT and paramedics.

UTN coordinates with the local organ procurement organizations to ensure all organs and tissue that are viable for transplant take first priority if it is the donor's wishes before transporting the donor to one of our facilities. This allows for the donation to be completely utilized and honor the intent of the donor.

Make a difference, join the network and become a whole-body donor.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among U.S. women, after cancers of the skin. There are currently about 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S., including women still being treated and those who have completed treatment.
Modern medicine is a big reason for that success.
