Share Your LOVE of Harbin

November 21, 2023

Dear Friend,

It’s been a beautiful, but sometimes arduous eight years, as we continue to heal and rebuild Harbin Hot Springs after the 2015 Valley Fire burned most of our facilities. We’ve been reflecting on the milestones we’ve reached together and our goals for Harbin’s future.

We’d love to share some highlights of the past eight years with you, the donors who have helped make this all possible. With several more permanent structures underway or soon to be underway, we move ever closer to our original goal for the rebuilding process, to restore similar programs and services as were available before the fire.

We had a very successful fundraising campaign which helped bring big shade trees to the scorched hills in the first years after the fire. We thank you! The Mainside Pool Area and the Meadow Campground facilities were rebuilt. Two sustainable buildings were built replacing the two Harbin Domes that were destroyed. We replaced thirteen Grove Cottages and brought 15 “glamping” trailers to the Meadow area, providing lodging, and camping again. The Reception office opened and the semi-permanent Health Services building and new Health Services Pool offer massage and bodywork on land and in water. A trailer restaurant, café cart and food court are open for meals. Events are held in various locations around property. The long-awaited Fern Dressing Room and Steam Sauna are receiving their final touches. And our talented team built the beautifully constructed “Garden Pavilion”, replacing the events tent that was crushed in rare snow Middletown received last winter.

An open air wooden structure with a metal roof sits outside with folliage in the foreground.

After much preparation Harbin first re-opened to guests in early 2019. Unfortunately, our operations were again halted for almost a year during the pandemic in 2020. We closed our doors for most of that year. We are open now and maintaining a lower capacity for the health and safety of our guests and staff. Rebuilding continues to stay on schedule, and we really think our newest construction plans are exciting.

Our next focus is rebuilding the Harbin Restaurant and the two Mainside Hotel Buildings, Walnut and Azalea. We are asking for your help to ease the costs of the immense rebuilding projects as we approach the next phase of construction. While we’re so happy with what we’ve accomplished, there is still so much work ahead. We’re ready for it!

We’re now offering the opportunity to be a part of Harbin’s history with 30 customized, commemorative “Supporter Plaques” for a donation of $1,000.

Inside the open air new pavilion structure are beams that hold the roof. The new commemorative plaques are afixed onto the beams. This image shows one plaque, the first to be installed.

Each of these plaques, which are being attached to the new Garden Pavilion support beams, will feature your own chosen commemoration, customizable within the size of the plaque surface. Reserve your plaque by donating $1000 or more. Then email fundraising@harbin.org or call 707-802-8684 with your commemoration message. We’ll help you design the perfect custom commemorative plaque. You may also choose a recurring donation to fit your budget and when the $1000 is completed we will make your plaque!

Please make a donation.

4"x4" commemorative supporter plaques are being attached to the new Garden Pavilion support beams.

3"x3" space for you customized message fits about 30 characters including spaces. Be creative! Harbin artists will help you create your unique design.

The greatest part of the work we have accomplished is opening our doors to smiling guests. Both new and long-time guests experience the magic of the seasonal sounds of laughter, weekly dances, music events, meditations, ceremonies, and yoga which have all returned to Harbin. Trails are once again being traversed and hiking is followed by a plunge, a soak or both!

As we heal and rebuild, our ever-increasing staff provides amazing guest services in our rustic and unique setting. The Harbin Experience truly is one-of-a-kind. We couldn’t do this without you and we’re thankful you are on this journey with us. From the very beginning we have always said “No donation is too small”. Donations of any size help assure that we can offer the “Harbin Experience” for generations to come.

With our love and gratitude for your continuing interest, time, and support,

Lia Findley Jennings & Chayo Mosqueda,

Managing Directors of Heart Consciousness Church,

and the entire Harbin staff.

Please make a donation.
