CIC Borrowers, Investors, and Friends:
CIC celebrates Black History Month as an important opportunity and starting point to amplify the contributions of Black people and businesses to affordable housing and community development in Chicago neighborhoods, our region, and throughout the country. We specifically acknowledge the ongoing contributions of Black building owners and investors to CIC’s own work and mission to preserve affordable rental housing throughout Chicago.
Over the next year, CIC will showcase the achievements of Black building owners, managers, and investors who are leaders in the affordable rental housing industry. Watch for our future newsletters and on social media channels to learn more. As part of this effort, we want to hear and share your stories.
For persons of color, we invite you to reach out with a note sharing your experience in real estate investment or building ownership and management for inclusion in a future profile. Whether or not you are a person of color, please recommend other Black colleagues whose stories and achievements should be noted and celebrated. Email CIC at ourstories@cicchicago.com to share your thoughts and story.
These efforts are an important part of CIC’s work. We have formed a staff working committee to focus on further elevating Black voices and showcasing their important work. Special thanks to Jerri Edwards, CIC’s Director of Credit Administration, for leading the committee’s effort.
There are many stories to share and contributions to highlight, and this is just the starting point. We look forward to engaging in these ongoing conversations.
Sincerely,
