Moving Forward

The City of Sierra Vista invites residents to take a brief survey to share how they prefer to receive City news and information.

The survey will help the City continue to evolve its communication methods and prioritize what residents value most. With so many ways to share and receive information available today, this survey will offer a sample of how people currently like to learn about all kinds of City services, news, events, and programs. It will also let residents weigh in on what type of information matters most to them.

Veterans Day Parade returns next week

The City of Sierra Vista is thrilled to host our annual Veterans Day Parade once again this year!

The City of Sierra Vista’s 26th Annual Veterans Day Parade will start heading down Fry Boulevard at 9 a.m., beginning at 7th Street and ending at Veterans Memorial Park, on Thursday, Nov. 11. A short ceremony will follow in the park. Come out to support our veterans!

Remember that Fry Boulevard will be closed from 7th Street to Avenida Escuela from about 8:45 to 11 a.m. that day. Wilcox Drive will be closed from 7th Street to Lenzner Avenue for parade staging starting at 7 a.m. In addition, no through traffic from Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway to Fry Boulevard via Veterans Memorial Park will be allowed from 9 to 11 a.m.

All City facilities will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 11, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. The Thursday, Nov. 11, trash collection will shift to Wednesday, Nov. 10. No special pickups will be available on Wednesday. There is no change to the Friday trash pickup schedule.

Extraordinary Activities

The Sierra Vista Police Department invites residents to come together with a variety of local law enforcement organizations and faith-based groups to enjoy food, offer donations, and honor veterans.

Faith & Blue, Partners in Understanding will take place at Events 161, located at 161 Wilcox Drive, on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring either one new clothing item or three cans of food, with donations benefiting the Salvation Army, St. Vincent De Paul, and Warrior’s Healing Center. Food and drinks will be provided at no charge.

SVPD Chief Adam Thrasher and Sierra Vista First Church of God in Christ Pastor Clea McCaa will offer brief remarks. This event is being held in conjunction with the National Faith & Blue initiative.

Uncommon Recreation

Who says fun and games are just for kids? Adults are invited to play laser tag among the stacks at the Sierra Vista Public Library tonight at 6:30 p.m. This event is for ages 18 and up. Space is limited and available on a first -come, first-served basis.

Social Snapshot

The City of Sierra Vista Art Studio is offering ceramic Cookie Cutter Ornament Kits throughout November! Stop by the Art Studio inside the Oscar Yrun Community Center anytime it's open to get your kit for $10 and begin! The studio is open Wednesday/Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday/Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (520) 458-7922.

City Announcements

The Sierra Vista Public Library is now open one hour later Monday through Thursday to offer patrons more opportunities for evening programming! The library's current hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
