Kicking Off Our Year End Campaign,

15th Anniversary Video and Program Highlights

GivingTuesday is Today! Join Us as We Kick Off Our

Year End Campaign Season

Today is GivingTuesday, a day to join global movements and organizations that align with your values. At Global Seed Savers, we envision a world where communities are resilient and healthy, and have access to naturally-grown farmer-produced seeds and food. This mission could not be more essential across the Philippines which is the most climate vulnerable nation in the world and SE Asia's most food insecure.

It has been a very challenging few months across the Philippines with so many earthquakes and devastating typhoons. But, we are so pleased to report that 100% of our, over 100 distributed household seed library boxes have survived these disasters and ensured each of these households and communities can replant and rebuild their farms, because they have readily available local seeds! This is the power of our seed sovereignty movement!

Help Us kick off our year end giving season and meet our $5,000 year fundraising goal by 12/31!

  • $150 supports the development and distribution of one fully stocked household seed library box—giving a farmer everything they need to begin saving and sharing seeds.
  • $250 covers the cost for five farmers to participate in our foundational Seed School 1 training program.
  • $500 supports farmers advancing through Seed School 3, helping them become educators and agents of change within their own communities.
  • $1,000 helps us build living seed libraries and expand our seed sanctuaries, protecting the Philippines’ rich agricultural heritage for generations to come.
  • And at $5,000, your gift allows us to expand seed saving into new communities, supporting research and breeding trials that safeguard the future of food and strengthen climate resilience nationwide.

Celebrating 15 Years of Collective Impact and Wonderful Community

Community isn't just helpful; it's essential! To honor our last 15 years of building Seed Sovereignty across the Philippines, we launched the below video to share our history and launch us into the next chapter of our work. This video shares what community means and looks like to our organization and partner farmers, and how small actions can lead to transformative growth. View Video Below and Here.

A big thanks to Erin Preston Productions for making this beautiful video for us!

We wish you all a peaceful and restful end of year with those you love! We look forward to making an even bigger impact with you all in 2026!

Latest Stories from the Field

Deepening our Relationships with Local Government Units

Our team met with the Tuburan Municipal Agriculture Officer Kent Marcial Catubis, and Organic Program Officer Aldrin Dacua for a courtesy meeting earlier this week. Courtesy meetings are important for relationship building, and Tuburan remains one of our most active partners in the Visayas region. We’ve already trained two batches of dedicated seed savers in this municipality, and their commitment continues to inspire our seed sovereignty work! We will be signing a MOA with the Mayor of Tuburan later this week detailing our growing partnership and look forward to helping this dynamic Municipality launch a Center Based Seed Library in early 2026.

Breaking Ground on the Tublay Seed Sanctuary

Long-Term Seed Storage Mud Building

Last week we started to break ground on the soon to come long-term seed storage mud building facility at our Tublay Seed Sanctuary. On December 19th and 20th we will be hosting with Ala, our design partner from Malaya Permakultra, an interactive live mud building workshop at the Tublay Seed Sanctuary!

Testing Seed Quality: New Germination Trial Underway

We have started another round of seed germination trials for pepino (cucumber) seeds we received from a seed exchange in Thailand! We’re testing their adaptability to their new environment.

Why is this important? Seed germination trials allow us to test seed quality, which allows farmers and the community to confidently save, exchange, and use their own seeds for harvest. This is imperative to seed sovereignty and food security!

So far, this round of seeds is doing well!

Every $25 supplies organic seeds to farmers across the Philippines ensuring climate resiliency and protecting biodiversity.
