Big News! The Learning Accelerator is Joining Forces with Aurora

Colleagues and friends,

For well over a decade, The Learning Accelerator (TLA) has been working to create a world where every child can reach their full and unique potential. By advancing understanding and knowledge, building networks to accelerate progress and connectivity, and partnering to increase capacity for learning, we’ve been building an education field where practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and technologists work together to transform K-12 educational systems and experiences.

A core value we’ve held throughout our work is collective intelligence and action. It’s going to take a whole sector working together to meet our goals. Today, I’m excited to share that we’re taking a big step to bring this value to life: we’re joining forces with long-time collaborators, The Aurora Institute.

Aurora and TLA are deeply committed to transforming education systems to advance more equitable, learner-centered futures through personalized, competency-based approaches and holistic student development. We also share a belief in the power of transformative learning experiences to build better futures for all of us. This partnership is a natural next step and comes at a moment when the K-12 education field is challenged more than ever to drive urgent change. Together, we can do more — and do it better. Our new organization will bring together important coalitions to execute on our shared vision through policy, practice, progress, and people.

As one team, we’ll leverage our mutual strengths and decades of impact. TLA brings a strong record of advancing progress across K-12 systems through applied research, field-building partnerships, and the development of practical, actionable resources and solutions for educators and leaders. Aurora contributes deep policy expertise at the state and federal levels, a respected research and evaluation practice, deep storytelling work, and a track record of convening, catalyzing, and connecting leaders shaping the future of education.

We’re excited to step into this next chapter. In the coming months, my Co-CEO Virgel Hammonds and I will be listening to other leaders and colleagues including you to help shape our strategy for our next phase of work. Our team will also be delivering the same level of impact and value through existing work like our Exponential Learning Initiative and practical AI guidance now with more depth and capacity. We also hope to see you at the annual Symposium in October. (Early bird pricing ends on July 31... so secure your spot!)

Change is a process we’ll be working behind the scenes to slowly and strategically bring our organizations together. In July, you can expect more news around our new unified name and logo. We can’t wait to share it with you!

In partnership and curiosity,

Beth Rabbitt, Chief Executive Officer (she/her)
