As the school year ends, the OEA Choice Trust team sends our immense appreciation for the astonishing heart-driven support you have given to your students, families, communities, and each other. This past year was clearly like no other and your unwavering commitment to education deeply touched the lives of your students and communities.

To kick off the summer season, here are a few Bright Spots of kindness and connection from across Oregon. We’re wishing you a peaceful, restorative, and joyous summer break!

Black Butte School District

“To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, we ordered lunch from a local restaurant for all the staff. It was a delicious treat for everyone and we all took the time to eat lunch together, which is hard with our schedules. It was a time to reconnect beyond the

‘to-do’ list and enjoy each other's company.”

Monroe School District

“Monroe staff enjoyed a sunny Friday get away together at Benton Lane Winery! Benton Lane is just a mile up the road from our school, incredibly beautiful and peaceful. While wine wasn’t purchased with grant funding, staff enjoyed a gorgeous table of snacks, catching up, laughing, and a fun game of corn hole.”

Brookings School District

“Having 10 free meals this year has been LIFE CHANGING! On those days when I forget a lunch, I don’t have to go hungry anymore! Furthermore, the menu has some pretty amazing meals on it, and the salad bar is soooo nice; it's definitely my favorite aspect of our nutrition program. I hope we are allowed this again next year as it has been so wonderful and yummy. Thank you!”

Three Rivers School District

Coloring is known to be a stress reliever, which is why Three Rivers School District posted beautiful coloring pages on the walls and provided markers. Staff pause to color every time they walk by. Plus, their community members have started to color, which added some extra joy!
