Below are worship resources to sustain and strengthen our faith during this time when our care for all of God's people calls us to practice social distance and to connect in new ways. Click on the pictures below to access the video content. Scriptures and prayers are located below the links.

Due to the rise in COVID-19 positivity rates, Grace Community Christian Church will only share in worship online starting Sunday, November 15. The building will not be open for in person worship. We will only offer virtual worship for the next few weeks, and look forward to gathering again in person when it is safe to do so. May our faith continue to sustain and center our lives during this time of change and uncertainty.

Thank you in advance for sharing your gifts, tithes, and offerings with Grace Community Christian Church. You may give online below, mail in a check, or drop off your offering to the church. Today's special offering, over and above tithes and offerings, is for Disciples related colleges, universities, seminaries, and Divinity Houses.

Offering reflection
Have you ever refused a compliment? Someone tells you you’re good at something, and you immediately respond demurely, deflecting the praise as if they were talking about someone else. Paul says one of the gifts of the Spirit is encouragement, and yet so many of us won’t let ourselves be encouraged!

The Bible is clear: we all have been given gifts to use. And if the Spirit has given us the gifts, then the gifts must be good ones! Rather than act like we don’t have them, we are called to use them wisely to further God’s work in this world. We shouldn’t do so pridefully, but we also shouldn’t bury them. When we generously give our gifts to God through our church, God multiplies them for the healing of the nations.
Offering prayer
Giving God, you have graced us with gifts beyond our abilities and empowered us to use them in service to each other. May the gifts we share today be one of the ways we pledge our obedience, shining your light into this world. We are honored to be the recipients of your generosity; may we reflect that gift today and every day. Amen.

Opening Prayer

Timeless God, when our days speed fleetingly past, you remember us. We pause now in the midst of our busy lives to acknowledge you as the One who gave us this day and every day. May we use it to worship you and serve others, filling our lives and this world with your love. Amen.

Prayer for Wisdom

We thank you, God of all life and each life, that you are with us every day, in each challenge and opportunity. In our weakness, you are strength. In our darkness, you are light on the journey.
In our questions, you are wisdom for our choices. Stay with us in these days when so much seems uncertain, and help us to serve you faithfully, when and as we are able.

God of loving kindness:
we give you thanks for moments of joy and celebration in our lives
even amidst the ongoing pandemic,
for love given and received,
for friendships which bring us meaning and happiness, even at a distance,
and for family members who show us glimpses of unconditional love.
In all our relationships and interactions,
keep us mindful of your call to see you in one another.

God of healing: we pray for those who are suffering in these difficult days of pandemic, for those who mourn the loss of someone or something dear.
Draw close to all who fear the future.
Surround each one with your love
and show us how to bring comfort and support into situations of hurt and pain.

And now we pray in the words that Jesus taught us, saying:

The Lord’s Prayer
Scripture (message version)
Psalm 90: 1-12
1-2 God, it seems you’ve been our home forever; long before the mountains were born, Long before you brought earth itself to birth, from “once upon a time” to “kingdom come”—you are God.
3-12 So don’t return us to mud, saying,
“Back to where you came from!”
Patience! You’ve got all the time in the world—whether a thousand years or a day, it’s all the same to you. Are we no more to you than a wispy dream, no more than a blade of grass that springs up gloriously with the rising sun and is cut down without a second thought?
Your anger is far and away too much for us; we’re at the end of our rope. You keep track of all our sins; every misdeed
since we were children is entered in your books. All we can remember is that frown on your face. Is that all we’re ever going to get? We live for seventy years or so (with luck we might make it to eighty), And what do we have to show for it? Trouble. Toil and trouble and a marker in the graveyard. Who can make sense of such rage, such anger against the very ones who fear you? Oh! Teach us to live well! Teach us to live wisely and well!
