Welcome to Grace at Home. Below are worship resources to sustain and strengthen our faith. Click on the pictures below to access the video content. Scriptures and prayers are located below the links. Due to COVID-19 positivity rates, Grace Community Christian Church will continue to share in worship online.

The building is open for in person worship this morning. As guidelines change and vaccine is made available, we look forward to gathering safely again in person with COVID mitigation measures in place.

Additional opportunities for connection and reflection
Lent is a 40 day season of prayer and preparation for Easter, not counting Sundays or Holy Saturday. It begins on Ash Wednesday, February 17, and ends on Good Friday, April 2. Below you will find a devotional resource for reflection and prayer during this season. Let's make a special effort to lift each other up in prayer over the next 40 days.

You are also invited to join us this afternoon at 4pm to study Naked Spirituality on zoom. Click here.

Thank you for sharing your gifts, tithes, and offerings with Grace Community Christian Church. You may give online below or mail in a check.

Week of Compassion supports Disciples of Christ churches in Texas and in other states impacted by the recent snowstorms and severe winter weather. Each year in February, congregations across the United States and Canada collect a special offering for Week of Compassion. Please prayerfully consider making a gift to Week of Compassion over and above your regular tithes and offering in February.

Offering prayer
Holy Giver of Life, you have provided for us all that we have, and equip us to serve you and to serve others. The Gospel reminds us that we are called to bridge the gap between casual commitment and true discipleship. We give this offering as a way to move toward closer discipleship with you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Opening Prayer

Source of Love-Made-Flesh, we stream to you from East and West seeking what’s right and holding on to the holy. Settle us in body and soul in the land of hope your prophets proclaim. Free our hearts and minds to hear anew the call to compassion, the challenge of community, the needs of our neighbors. Call to us in this time of worship that we may gather in Spirit and in Truth and be changed. Seated and settled now, this we pray in Jesus’ name: Amen.

Prayer of Compassion

When we have crouched in fear, most holy, loving One, your presence has given us strength. When we have been alone and unsure, you have sent companions and messengers across deserts, across seas, across time itself to remind us that no one is forgotten. When we have hung our heads in despair, you have raised up children, generation after generation, who have proven that with you, all things are possible. We thank you for your unrelenting pursuit of our well-being; for the drops of mercy within us that make great rivers of compassion when we join them together.

Guide us to take part in shaping a world where all people know such joy. Let hunger end by the open hands of generous hearts. Let none be thirsty, as your love freely flows through each of your people! Let health be restored to the sick of body, mind or spirit, and in Jesus’ name, let us help. May such love flow through all your people, now and always. Amen!
Scripture
Isaiah 49: 8-12
8 This is what the Lord says: “In the time of my favor I will answer you,
and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you
to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, 9 to say to the captives, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!’ “They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill. 10 They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat down on them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water. 11 I will turn all my mountains into roads, and my highways will be raised up. 12 See, they will come from afar— some from the north, some from the west, some from the region of Aswan.[a]”

Making the Lenten Journey:
Praying in Color
Ways to Use the Lenten calendars:
1) Pray for a person each day of Lent.
2) Use a daily book of Lenten meditations. Read the meditation for the day and select a word that jumps out at you. Meditate on the word as you draw and color around it. Let it enter your heart and mind. Ask God what you need to hear from the word.
3) Follow a daily lectionary and choose a word from one of the Scripture readings.
4) Read the same Psalm each day and choose a daily word. Psalm 51, for example, is a penitential Psalm with lots of juicy (sometimes depressing) words in it.
5) Read a different Psalm each day and choose a word.
