Spring Clean Up Day
Tomorrow
In preparation for outdoor worship on May 2nd, we need all hands (or as many that can come out) to help beautify PLC’s yard. We are planning to do this on Saturday, April 24 from 9:00 am to 12 noon. (Rain date would be April 25).
We will need help picking up trash, planting flowers, mulching, and mowing. Please let us know if you have any skills that you think would help us (and especially yard tools)!

Evening Prayer
Tuesday, 7 pm
At the end of the day, you are invited to take a few minutes to look back, give thanks for the graces of the day and let go of the brokenness so that you can rest in God's promises.
This Tuesday, Pastor Shannon will lead us in an end of the day liturgy from the book Every Moment Holy by Douglas McKelvey. We will meet via zoom.

Outdoor Worship
10 am beginning May 2nd
We are excited to begin weekly outdoor worship on Sunday, May 2nd. Our theme for the month of May is 'Together for Joy' and we are looking forward to the joy of being together in person. As we make this transition, we will continue to maintain Covid safety protocols. Please be aware of the following:
- Masks will be required
- We will socially distance
- Please bring your own chairs if you are able
- We will not hand out bulletins. The worship order will be available on your smartphone or tablet or you can print one out ahead of time (if you would like an order of worship for the season mailed to you, please let the office know)
- Please stay home if you are not feeling well
- Group singing is still considered risky so music will be pre-recorded or sung by soloists or small ensembles.
- In the case of inclement weather, worship will be online. We will make and communicate weather decisions on Saturday night.

A Note About Reopening Guidelines
The council and the relaunch team continue to monitor the spread of Covid-19 in our community. In addition, the relaunch team is always paying attention to the latest guidance from our denomination and from the CDC. Based on recent guidance from the ELCA and latest recommendations from the CDC, the relaunch team recommended a revision to the metrics that we are using for determining the safety of outdoor worship. The original recommendation called for a positivity rate of 5% or less for outdoor worship but the relaunch team recommended to the council that that number be changed to 10%. The council accepted that recommendation at its April meeting. All other metrics remain the same and are as follows:
Phase 2 – Outdoor church services [Positivity Rate below 10% AND Case Rate of 10.1 to 25]
Phase 3 – Indoor church services with safety modifications and consideration of external group access [Positivity Rate below 5% AND Case Rate of 1 to 10]
Phase 4 – Normal Operational Status [Positivity Rate below 3% AND Case Rate of less than 1]

Changes Coming to Online Worship
Beginning May 2nd
We are excited to begin outdoor in person worship, but plan to continue offering online worship. Beginning on May 2nd, our online worship will be live-streamed directly from church at 10 am instead of pre-recorded. We hope this will allow a great sense of connection for all who participate. For livestreaming, we will use our Facebook platform and will send out a link each Sunday morning to the livestream. In addition, the Facebook link below will take you to the page where you can find all of our live videos.
For those of you who are not able to join us at 10 am and want to watch later, the video will be available on our Facebook page and will also be uploaded to our Youtube Channel immediately after each service. Please note that you do not need to have a Facebook account to watch our live services.

Though our expenses were under budget for Qtr. 1, our giving was lower than anticipated also. As we look to Qtr. 2, our property expenses will increase due to the addition of weekly janitorial expenses. Qtr. 1 janitorial expenses were paid through a Charles County COVID Grant. If you have any questions, please contact Gail Bentz at gail@myplc.org.
