From Our President

Welcome to our Season of Gratitude newsletter. Assistance League of Inland North County has so much to be thankful and grateful for. Thankful for the lives we are able to transform through programs such as Operation School Bell® and Ready, Set, Read!. Grateful and appreciative of our community partners, supporters and donors like yourselves.

When we center ourselves on the discipline of gratitude, Thanksgiving Day can take on a new depth of meaning. No doubt, everything you read this month will stress giving thanks and we are no different. However, we feel our gratitude stretches both to and from the communities we serve and goes beyond to the far-reaching places our community members go.

At our recent member meeting, members were asked to share what makes them thankful. Not surprisingly, many said being members of our organization. Read More

Giving Tuesday Fundraiser

Tuesday, November 29, 2022

Happy Thanksgiving! On November 29th, we will join with thousands of other nonprofits and participate in Giving Tuesday, which is a nationwide day of giving at the start of the holiday season. This year, inflation is taking its toll on everyone. Our communities are struggling and need our support more than ever. We depend on you, our friends and supporters, to help us bridge the gap between what we want to do and what we are able to do. Watch for our postings on Facebook and Instagram leading up to this great day. Read more about what we have been able to do below.

  • Gratitude to/from Scholarship Program Recipients We have provided scholarships to deserving high school graduates for colleges across the country. In all, more than 150 students. Each one represents what is best in our youth today and gives us hope for the future. For all of them, we are grateful. Read their stories here

  • Gratitude for our new Growing Minds Pre-school Program Last year we expanded Operation School Bell® to include toddlers and pre-school children in the Growing Minds Childcare centers supporting low to middle income families. The program currently serves four centers in the local area. Read more about this program.

  • Gratitude for all our Donors Our donors are the glue that holds us together and helps us bridge the gaps where the needs are greatest. We can not name them all, but would especially like to recognize the Witman Family Foundation, the Gregg Family Foundation, the Escondido and Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club Foundations, and the Estates of Odette Madriago and Cathy Williams. We are grateful to Kohl’s, our partner in Operation School Bell, to Major Market for its ongoing support and to all the local businesses and organizations who work with us to improve, publicize, and help us bring our message of service to all parts of Inland North County.

  • Gratitude for our Customers We are grateful to all our customers, whether they have just discovered us and tell their friends or visit every week and shop. We are grateful to you – you inspire us to do more! Read more here

  • Gratitude for our Thrift Shop Volunteers Our largest source of income is our Escondido Thrift Shop, fully staffed and managed by volunteers. We are grateful to those who work in the shop week after week, who work behind the scenes to sort, steam, and organize the donations and get them to the shop floor in record time.

  • Gratitude for our Thrift Shop Donors We are grateful for all who donate to our shop, as it is an opportunity to provide a great shopping experience and avoid waste going into landfills. Our customers and other agencies who participate in our Waste Not program ensure all items are back out in the community providing help and support to hundreds of people every day.

Yes we are fortunate to be able to do so much, but the needs continue to skyrocket. Without you, many children will go without shoes, clothing and help in reading. Without you, scholarships will be far fewer and the food, clothing and support we provide to communities throughout North County will be far less.

Please think of us on GIVING TUESDAY and donate whatever you can to help us continue to Transform Lives and Strengthen Communities throughout Inland North County as we have done for more than 37 years!

We will end as we began, wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, full of love and all those people and things for which we are all eternally grateful. Our Donate links can be found at the top of this newsletter and in the "Ways To Get Involved" section below.
