Point32Health Foundation and Corporate Citizenship update

February 24, 2023

Community input shaped strategic plan

Hundreds of community members shared their wisdom and experience through community listening sessions, key informant interviews and focus groups over the past year. Our team also engaged in conversations with hundreds of organizations in the communities where we live and work. These insights and perspectives have helped us better understand what is important to community—from those closest to the issues, who can advise us as we consider how to support solutions.

We will share how these contributions shaped our new strategic plan at a webinar on Wednesday, March 29. All are welcome.

Celebrating food equity progress in New Hampshire

New Hampshire Hunger Solutions hosted its Food and Nutrition Security Summit earlier this month. Partners and advocates from across the Granite State came together to celebrate successes in nutrition equity, learn best practices, and discuss future actions to continue improving health equity and eliminate hunger.

Caitlin Sullivan, program officer, attended the summit. Pictured above is Bobbie Bagley, director of the City of Nashua Division of Public Health and Community services, sharing thoughts on the role of coalitions and collective impact in achieving nutrition security across the state.

Federal funding supports long-term transformation

WalkBoston and LivableStreets Alliance, both foundation grantees, collaborate with the MA Vision Zero Coalition and other organizations to create strong, vibrant communities. They focus on making walking safer and easier, while promoting people-centered transportation systems that connect neighborhoods.

This work got a boost with a $9 million award to the City of Boston from the Safe Streets and Roads for All program of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Springfield will receive about $15 million from the same federal program to improve intersections and crosswalks and manage speed on dangerous stretches of highway.

Brendan Kearney, deputy director of WalkBoston, said he was pleased to see the funding going to road safety, not just traffic congestion.

Colleagues support organizations working to end and prevent homelessness

More than 25,000 people are experiencing homelessness in the states we serve. People who are unhoused face many challenges — especially in cold Northeast winters.

During our annual Essential Needs Drive, Point32Health colleagues donated nearly $15,000 in essentials to nonprofits serving diverse communities in Conn., Maine, Mass., N.H. and R.I. Goods.

Non-perishable food and diapers, cold weather gear, personal care items and other items will be distributed to the following organizations:
