New Program Launching in 2023!

Community Social Work Program

We are excited to announce the addition of our Community Social Work Program, which is housed under our Public Health Division.

This program highlights our commitment to our community and residents. Our team will consist of one supervisor and two social workers. Our social workers, with support from our Bilingual community health workers will provide "on the ground" support. The work will be centered in two City of Sheboygan neighborhoods where additional support is needed.

This initiative is community-focused and engaging to local stakeholders, not for profit agencies, schools and, most importantly, residents of these neighborhoods to create collaborative networks.  These networks will focus on neighborhood-based prevention and early intervention efforts to support families, communities, and agency partners.

We hope to offer resource referrals, advocacy support, and problem-solving assistance to residents in the areas of housing, food security, employment, and health via relationships.

Our next steps include hiring our social worker team and reviewing potential space in the community to locate the workers. Please feel free to connect with our Community Programs Supervisor Ruth Ruiz at Ruth.Ruiz@sheboygancounty.com with any questions or inquiries on how we can partner on this program.

DPH Celebrated Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day on March 8th!

Celebrated on the second Wednesday in March during National Nutrition Month®, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day increases awareness of registered dietitian nutritionists as the indispensable providers of food and nutrition services and recognizes RDNs for their commitment to helping people enjoy healthy lives. The Sheboygan Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program has four RDNs on staff.

COVID-19

Wastewater Monitoring

Wastewater is monitored for early detection of COVID-19 within a community. For people with COVID-19, the virus can be detected in their feces shortly after they are infected with the virus, even before they experience symptoms or if they are infected but asymptomatic.
