CARING FOR CREATION AND SHOPPING SUSTAINABLY

The fashion industry produces 100 billion garments annually—for 7 billion people on earth.

We send approximately 40 million tons of textiles to landfills or to be incinerated every year.

60% of all clothing is made of synthetic fibers such as polyester, which is an oil derivative containing high levels of microplastics. Washing synthetic clothing releases microplastics and contributes to 35% of all ocean microplastic pollution.

With many thanks, from your donations, Good Shepherd was able to donate to MUST in Cherokee County $1,700 in both check and gift cards.  This gift of your generosity will help offset some of the needs that individuals and families have been experiencing in our area.

Thank you to Pastor Rosy, and Jenny Truesdale, our new Outreach Chairperson, for bringing these gifts to MUST.  Another big thank you goes out to Pat Bull who has been working behind the scenes since the pandemic started, to deliver all the collected grocery items from the barrels on our front porch on a weekly basis.

You might want to organize your own food drive in your neighborhood, or if you are having an event at your home, ask your guests to bring items that MUST needs.

We continue to collect food items on our front porch. Please consider a way to help your neighbors.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us - Ephesians 5: 1-2a.

WE NEED DECORATORS

Put this date on your calendar. Good Shepherd will be sponsoring a "Trunk or Treat" event in our lower parking lot on October 26th, from 6 PM - 8 PM. We need people to tastefully decorate trunks for our young trunk or treaters (nothing too spooky please). If you are unable to decorate a trunk, please consider a donation of candy or small toy giveaways. A bin for candy and a sign up sheet for trunk decorators is at Sign-up Central in Fellowship Hall or using the button below.
