Following the service we will post the recorded service to our YouTube channel and our website on the sermon page gslutheran.org/sermons.

Next week we will livestream our service at 8:30 AM

on our Facebook Page.

You do not need a Facebook account to view our livestreamed services.

Pre-packaged communion will be available for anyone interested in participating in the sacrament of Holy Communion while watching a livestream/taped service. Please stop by during normal office hours, or contact the church office if you need help in obtaining these sacraments for your at home use. Pastor Rosy has offered to deliver it to anyone in the area.

We give thanks to God for the opportunity to gather together and celebrate as the Good Shepherd community.

OCTOBER IS

PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH

Take a moment to show Pastor Rosy your appreciation for the pastoral role she serves here at Good Shepherd. Pray for her and the work she has been called to do. Offer to lend a hand, send her a note of gratitude or simply give her a call.  On this Sunday, October 9th, we will honor her with a simple reception after each service.

STEWARDSHIP

Dear Good Shepherd members,

It was such a pleasure to see so many of you participating in our outdoor Harvest Festival service and German inspired lunch this past Sunday. I saw smiles, conversations and oh yes, even some doing the Polka! It is always a wonderful time when we can share a meal and enjoy each other's company. Your Stewardship Committee has been working hard this year to bring us all back together, and want to thank all of you for another successful event.

Stewardship also wants to thank all of you who have been participating with your financial obligations, your time, and your talents over this past year. It takes all of us using our unique gifts to build a great church, and we are grateful for all you do.

As chairperson of the Stewardship committee, I would like to invite you to consider serving with us on Stewardship. We have a fun time planning events and making sure we are striving to build a bond with our members. We will be meeting at church on the 16th of October, in the meeting room at 12:15 p.m. Please join us as we continue to grow.

With God’s love,

Valerie Whiteman and Your Stewardship Committee.

Happening Sunday

Stewardship Committee members will be handing out 2023-24 Financial Stewardship Packets after worship the next two Sundays and noting who has picked up their packets to cut down on the cost of mailing. This packet includes the financial gift portion of our stewardship drive only. We will be hosting a ministry fair in January to highlight our gifts of talent at that time.

SERVE

You May Have Been Assigned a Servant Role in October

The Sunday Servant Worship Schedule can be found by clicking the button and viewing on our website. There is a link on our home page under "Quick Links."

We have very limited servants signed up for Assisting Minister, Acolyte and Crucifer for both services.  Please prayerfully consider if you are willing to serve in one of these roles.

If switching to a new role, please email our Office Coordinator so she can add you to our schedules. Also, please let the office know in advance if you are scheduled, or future plans have you going away and cannot serve. Thank you.

October Schedule

CONSIDER YOUR GIFTS

We are seeking a volunteer In Reach Coordinator. This person would assist Pastor Rosy with coordinating internal congregational member needs. Some tasks may include, making phone calls, sending correspondences, and coordinating with fellowship on some activities for congregational member care.

If interested, please contact Pastor Rosy

CARE FOR CREATION

We are collecting clean, label free prescription bottles for a giveaway project for our visitors titled, “Prescriptions for Life”. A great way to recycle too and care for creation.

The Fellowship Committee has placed NEW RECYCLE CANS in Fellowship Hall in conjunction with Caring for Creation’s Hefty Orange Bag Recycling Program. By recycling the appropriate items, we both save the church money and saves our environment. Please do your part to participate by placing the correct items in the right place. Lists of the recycled items are available in Fellowship Hall. Thank you.

CARING FOR CREATION AND SHOPPING SUSTAINABLY

The fashion industry produces 100 billion garments annually—for 7 billion people on earth.

We send approximately 40 million tons of textiles to landfills or to be incinerated every year.

60% of all clothing is made of synthetic fibers such as polyester, which is an oil derivative containing high levels of microplastics. Washing synthetic clothing releases microplastics and contributes to 35% of all ocean microplastic pollution.

OUTREACH

TWO-CAN SUNDAY REPEAT THIS SUNDAY

We recognize that last Sunday there was a lot to carry to worship and maybe those "two cans" were left at home. We have a strong relationship with Papa's Pantry and Timothy's Cupboard and their needs are great. More and more people are experiencing food insecurities in our own backyards.  Please consider bringing a couple cans of food for these smaller local food pantries and place them in the designated shopping cart this Sunday. Thank you to all those that did contribute last week.

For our 5 month Sunday program this month we are collecting school supplies. Leave in bin in Fellowship Hall.

· Paper towels

· Kleenex

· Snack- variety chip packs for prizes

· Pencil top erasers

· Binders (1.5")

· 50 zipper pencil pouches (for anxiety kits)

· Clear water bottles

· Hoodies in neutral colors M/L/XL

· Shoes (sizes 5-10) for male & female

Monetary donations for lunch balance for students in need. (counselors will work with lunch room to determine needs).

Another option is to call the school directly and state that they would like to pay off a student's lunch balance of a family in need.

WE NEED DECORATORS

See the display in Fellowship Hall.  If we do not get enough people to sign up to decorate trunks, we may have to cancel this event.

Put this date on your calendar. Good Shepherd will be sponsoring a "Trunk or Treat" event in our lower parking lot on October 26th, from 6 PM - 8 PM. We need people to tastefully decorate trunks for our young trunk or treaters (nothing too spooky please). If you are unable to decorate a trunk, please consider a donation of candy or small toy giveaways. A bin for candy and a sign up sheet for trunk decorators is at Sign-up Central in Fellowship Hall or using the button below. Please note all trunks will need to be battery operated, as we will not be able to provide electricity to power decorations.

I will help decorate or provide candy
