The Caring for Creation Committee is constantly seeking ways to care for God’s creation. Single use plastics are part of our everyday lives now and are sometimes unavoidable. Since these take 500 years to biodegrade, we encourage minimizing their use. REFUSE, REUSE, RECYCLE. It is better to refuse them when possible and reuse those we do get. The last resort is to recycle.
We can refuse to buy detergents in large plastic bottles. We encourage you to be creative and find other ways you can minimize the use of these plastics and share our ideas with Caring for Creation Committee. Let a member of the committee know if you did not receive your reusable shopping bags.
We Need Your Help!
The Caring for Creation Committee plants, maintains, and cares for the Garden of Grace. All produce is donated to local food pantries where it is added to boxes of food for people in our own community who are struggling to feed their families. We do this because of our love for God and our neighbors. There is a need for more people to help pick and deliver the produce. Kelly Burleson will be happy to train. If you would like to serve God in this way, please contact Kelly Burleson, Reba Sumner or the church office. All are welcome!
We continue to collect used eyeglasses. A box is located in Fellowship Hall. These will be donated to the Lion's Club.
We also continue to collect oral care waste for recycling. These items are mailed to TerraCycle where they are made into plastic pellets which can be made into outdoor furniture of playground equipment.
We also continue to collect used batteries to take to the appropriate recycling facility. This keeps the toxic materials out of landfills.
Our next meeting is May 10, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. If you would like serve God in this ministry, please contact the church office or Reba Sumner.
