Worship Matters at Good Shepherd!
We're launching a congregation wide small group study during Lent
and we want you to join us! Thirteen different groups will be studying
the same curriculum - Worship Matters. It's a short term commitment
of 6 sessions and a great way to learn about Lutheran worship and
meet new people.
Groups are being formed on
- Sunday mornings, between worship services and after the second service,
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings at church,
- Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, some in person and some online.
- There's even a group for parents. One is for you!
Signups begin this Sunday during the Ministry Fair. Stop by our table!
Got questions? See Holly Jones, Pastor Karen, Melina Thurmond, or Karin Storla.
Oh, and we promise that you'll learn something. Why do Lutherans sing so much, stand up and sit down so much, sprinkle instead of dunk, and are focused on grace? Come and find out!

Plan to attend the Ministry Fair on January 14th. At the fair we will be handing out new Time and Talent Sheets. These lists are more consolidated this year, so please note the primary committees and activities you are most intersted in as well as Sunday Servant roles. These lists will then get routed to committee chairpersons and council liaisons to actively manage each group.
If you worship with us at 8:30 AM, plan to stay after service. If you worship with us at 10:45 AM, make plans to come 20-30 minutes early. This is a fun event and really shows what GSLC is all about.

We continue our recycling initiatives. We appreciate all help from congregation members to keep these items out of landfills.
1. ORAL CARE WASTE: We collect old toothbrushes (any condition), floss containers. empty toothpaste tubes, and outer plastic packaging. NO electric toothbrush components. We send these to TerraCycle where they are made into plastic pellets which are then used to manufacture outdoor furniture and playground equipment.
2. HEFTY ORANGE ENERGY BAGS: These are for hard to recycle items (items which can not be put in curbside recycling. Bags are available in the Fellowship Hall for a nominal cost, along with a list of items that can be recycled this way. Bring your filled bags on the first Sunday of each month (two can Sunday.).
3. BATTERIES: We continue to collect small batteries (Size D and smaller) for recycling.
4. OLD EYEGLASSES: We collect these for donation to the Lion's Club. Prescription glasses, readers and eyeglass cases are accepted.
5. POPTABS: We collect these for donation to the Ronald McDonald house.
6. PRESCRIPTION MEDICINE BOTTLES: We collect clean prescription medicine bottles to send to
Matthew 25 Ministries. All labels must be removed. This organization sends them to third world countries for pharmacies to dispense medications. We will be collecting these during January and February.

Reducing our Carbon Footprint
For the next couple weeks, the Caring for Creation Committee will highlight articles on ways you can reduce your carbon footprint at home. Our next article is about Insulation. You can read this article and more on our website. Here is the introduction to that article:
Insulation
Did you know that you can have your local utility come out to your home and do an energy audit? I can hear it now, why in the world would I ask for an audit. It’s not that kind of audit. This kind of audit an expert comes out and measures the amount of air leaking from key areas like windows, doors, chimney’s, attics, basements, etc. Click here to read more....
