TWO-CAN | HEFTY ORANGE BAG SUNDAY

Bring in two cans of food and place in the Shopping Cart in the Entry Way. This collection supports our two local food pantires, Timothy's Cupboard and Papa's Pantry.


Remeber to bring your recyclables for the Hefty Orange Bag recycling program. We collect these items the first Sunday of every month. Place your bags in the trash receptable located near the front door.

The staff of Good Shepherd would like to thank the congregation for the generous Christmas gifts they received this Christmas. There is an overwhelming sense of joy working with a congregation that cares so deeply in so many ways. We all appreciate all the love and support we are given throughout the year. Thank you.

Sunday School | 9:45 AM Resumes, Jan. 5th.

All youth classes will meet downstairs. K-5 in B3, 6-8 in B8 and High School will meet in B1.

Faith Stories: Rm 117: New Study. Come join us. We will engage in “The Good Pause” series.  

Coffee and Conversation: Rm 118:  "Hope in the Lord" series. This will be our only class for January.

Men in Mission: Rm 116: Various topics and discussions just for men.

 


  

CALL COMMITTEE NEWS

GSLC CALL COMMITTEE NEWS

 

We have unanimously recommended to the Council, and the Council has unanimously voted and agreed that Pastor Karen Boda be voted on by the congregation as the primary candidate for the permanent position of Pastor.


We will be having a Meet and Greet this Sunday, January 5th, in the Sanctuary at 12 PM and one worship service on January 19th at 10 AM with a Special Congregational Meeting following that service to vote to call Candidate Pastor Karen. 



Please keep Pastor Karen, the church council and the call committee in your prayers as we continue thru this process.

Bible Studies Resume Jan 8th and 9th

Please contact the church office for Teams link.Wednesday Lunch and Learn:11:30 AM in Mtg. Room. “Jesus & Woman: In the First Century and Now”

Thursday Bible Study: 10 AM in Fellowship Hall. Pastor Karen leads this class. Bring your Bibles. Only class for January, we will then resume Feb. 6th.

Theology On Tap: Game Day, in Woodstock, January 8th and 22nd 6:30 PM.  Join us for casual conversation over a meal and various topics in a non-biased format.

This Ministry Fair is brought to you by our Stewardship Committee. This is an opportunity to see all the wonderful groups and committees that make Good Shepherd Thrive. Spirtual Gift forms will also be distributed during this fair to sign up for a committee, worship servant role or group to get involved and deepen your relationship with Good Shepherd.

Also on January 12, Meet Ana Lugo a Gift Planner who works with the SE Synod, to discuss Legacy Giving with members of Good Shepherd. A light lunch will be served. We will meet in the Meeting Room at 12 PM, sign up in Fellowship Hall.

Yarn Angels next meeting will be on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the home of Jennifer Taylor. Light refreshments will be provided.

We continue our recycling initiatives. We appreciate all help from congregation members to keep these items out of landfills.

3. BATTERIES: (Size D and smaller) 

4. OLD EYEGLASSES

5. POPTABS

6. PRESCRIPTION MEDICINE BOTTLES

We need to remove labels from these bottles try these methods:

  1. Warm the label in the sun
  2. Use a hairdryer for heat
  3. Put bottle in a glass of very hot water


HANDMADE CARD MINISTRY


ALL OCCASION cards are available for a suggested donation of $2.00 per card. All proceeds will support our Good Shepherd Youth Mission Trips. This ministry is being hosted by Molly Maher, Linda Rowell and Pam Hough. Thank you for your wonderful support of this GSLC ministry.

PRAYER MINISTRY

This is our submission form for you to submit non-urgent prayer concerns. Prayers will be posted to the Prayer Circle, via e-mail, during normal business hours, usually around 3 PM. As always, if you have an urgent prayer request, please contact Pastor by cell or email. 


If you would like to pray for others, as part of our prayer circle, please contact our Media Coordinator and she can add you to the Prayer Circle group.
