COUNCIL UPDATE

March Council highlights:

  • Per the extensive research done by Max Epling, the Finance committee suggested and Council approved signing up for Southern Mutual Insurance Company for GSLC insurance. Our previous insurance was through Church Mutual, who announced they were no longer going to cover GSLC.
  • The Council discussed and is prayerfully considering names for members for the new Call Committee. After a period of discernment, discussion will be had as to the members to approach for this role.
  • $3,000 in Thrivent Funds was approved by Council to be used for proposed for external property improvements.

Accolades:

  • Youth & Family Committee review of their part of the constitution
  • All those who worked on the reconceptualization of our worship bulletins
  • All those who contributed to the youth fund
  • Musicians & lectors for the mid-week Lenten services
  • "Worship Matters” leaders for their preparation and session facilitation
  • Max Epling for his thorough investigation of new insurance options for GSLC
  • Karl Westerville for his extensive knowledge and countless hours spent on the new Building Manual which contains information and on procedures on emergencies and normal operations, building systems, maintenance calendars, and contacts. This will assist in keeping our property safe and well maintained.

YOU DIDN'T TELL ME

One year I asked a couple to help lector during one of our Holy Week services. They said “sure”. I thought nothing more about it until later when they both appeared in my office and asked, “Why didn’t you tell me?” Naively, I asked “Tell you what?”.

In their 70+ years, no one had told them about Holy Week and the services that recall the events....

WE NEED YOUR HELP

FOR HOLY WEEK

We still need a few roles filled for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Please sign up if you are able to assist us. Also, please check our regular servant schedule to see if you are scheduled for Easter morning. Thank you.

I Will Serve for Holy Week

The next Yarn Angels meeting will be held on Monday, April 8th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the home of Melinda Mundis. Light refreshments will be provided. If you need directions, please contact the office.

Theology on Tap Returns in April

Now that we have all been renewed and inspired throughout Lent, and the Worship Matters study, we are excited to announce we will begin meeting again in April!

We have heard from several people that they wish we would meet closer to them, so we will be trying something new over the next few months.

While we want to remain loyal to Game Day and continue meeting there at times, we will switch off each month to another location. For May, we will be meeting at Hickory Flat Kitchen (6205 Hickory Flat Highway, Suite 112, Canton - where Frosty Frog used to be).

Upcoming dates are: Game Day - April 10 and 24; Hickory Flat Kitchen - May 8 and 22

We hope this change is helpful and allows more people to join in our conversations and fellowship.

Topics change each time we meet so no need to worry about missing anything. As always, everyone is welcome to share some food, laughs, and open conversation in a safe, non-judgemental environment
