Raquel's Journey
Raquel, a single mom of three children, has been on quite a journey that began when she and her family first experienced homelessness to graduating from our Shelter Program, and now living stably for several years. Prior to entering Shelter, Raquel held down 4 jobs at one time to make ends meet and moved 13 times in 8 years while caring for her children and keeping them safe.
Since graduating from our program, Raquel and her family have been securely housed for the past five years, and Raquel has been on a mission to make affective changes for others facing similar challenges. She serves on the Morris Continuum of Care Advisory Board, the Allocations Committee, Executive Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and the Permanent Housing Committee.
Raquel has a heart for change and she will continue to share her lived experience of homelessness and ideas to improve systems that will create positive outcomes in our county.
