Love Dogs? Be a Foster Parent!
Sign up for Dog Foster Orientation on Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
It's not easy to be a dog in a shelter. But for some dogs, it's stressful and nearly unbearable, and their health and well-being declines rapidly if they don't get a break.

That's where foster parents come in. They are CRITICAL to our operation, and help us expand our capacity to care for pets in need.

If you want to help shelter dogs from the comfort of your own home, consider fostering a dog from Kitsap Humane Society and signing up for our Dog Foster Orientation on Sat., Sept. 22 from 11 a.m to 12 p.m.!

Foster homes help us expand the capacity to help animals in need of care. So far this year, more than 64 dogs have benefited from foster care, but many more are in need.

We have various adult dog foster opportunities, ranging from overnight sleepovers, to short “shelter breaks,” and longer-term foster commitments that can last anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months. Thanks to your help, we're building a more humane community.

Adorable Adoptable
Meet Essex
This adorable guy is about 4 years old and has the most silky, velvety coat and striking green eyes. Essex loves attention and enjoys being petted and having his chin scratched. He is a big fan of toys- especially the laser pointer and string toys. Essex arrived at our shelter with bladder stones causing him pain and discomfort. Our vet team was able to perform surgery to remove the stones, and now he is feeling so much better!

Essex has lived with other cats and kids previously and would make a wonderful addition to any home! While he can be a little bit shy withnew people, after just a bit of love and TLC, Essex is your very best friend! Come in and meet Essex today!
Volunteer Spotlight
Meet Michelle!
Michelle Dolce has been a foster parent for Kitsap Humane Society since 2015, and in that time has fostered over 50 animals!

Michelle has fostered cats and kittens, but her specialty is taking care of puppies in need of an extra helping hand! Whilst puppies are adorable, fostering them is a lot of work, requiring lots of time socializing and playing, as well as cleaning!

Michelle shows incredible love and devotion to her foster animals, and her puppies return to the shelter ready for adoption knowing what it is like to be in a caring home.

In addition, Michelle has recently become one of our volunteer shelter photographers,
coming into the shelter to help catch our

animals in their best light! Michelle strives to achieve the best photos of our resident animals, knowing that capturing an animal's personality on film can convey so much to potential adopters and increase their likelihood of finding a home. Michelle’s attention to detail and giving nature make her a wonderful asset to both teams – thanks Michelle!!"
