17 of 36 Neglected Pets Now Adopted!
All 36 pets rescued from a squalid hoarding situation last month are clean, groomed and healthy, and half are now in homes of their own and doing well, like Nemo with his adopter, right.

"We still have pets at the shelter, waiting to meet you," said Samantha Fairweather, assistant director of Animal Welfare." All are showing improvement behaviorally and are settling in well."

Still waiting at the shelter for homes of their own are the pups Merriweather, Pauley , Tonka , and Red, and two barn cats, Scar and Simba . Five other small dogs and three bunnies are still in foster homes and will be made available for adoption soon. Please visit these precious pets at the shelter to find out if they are a good fit for your family!

What a Night! Animal Krackers Breaks Records!
It was swanky, it was fun, and it raised a record-breaking $560,000 for pets in need!

Animal lovers raised their paddles high and often at Kitsap Humane Society’s 25th annual Animal Krackers gala presented by Peninsula Subaru Saturday night. Guests who dreamed of visiting with puppies and kittens got their wish, in a special “cuddle booth” featuring an array of adorable furballs available for adoption. No one minded that the little sweethearts left pet hair on their suits and fancy dresses.

One of the highlights of the evening was the $50,000 donation made by Cody Magee and David Ferguson of Bremerton, to build and name a new play yard for dogs, a gift that brought 450 guests to their feet with a rousing standing ovation. The play yard is a feature of the new shelter building project which breaks ground this month.

The event raised critical operating funds for the shelter, which provides lifesaving care to more than 7,000 animals every year. During the live auction, guests bid on an array of exciting experiences, including trips to Tuscany, Bali, and Whistler, and special occasion dining at Heyday Farm on Bainbridge Island and Canlis in Seattle.

“We are deeply grateful for the incredible generosity of our friends at Animal Krackers,” said Eric Stevens, executive director of KHS.“The energy among our guests was amazing, and everyone had such a wonderful time. It takes the partnership of our entire community to do the lifesaving work we do, which in turn is building a more humane community for us all.”

Waiting for the Right Family: Meet Fats!
If you follow Kitsap Humane Society on social media, you've likely heard about Fats! This lovable boy adores his people and wants nothing more than to snooze in your lap, do the zoomies in the grass, and play with stuffed toys. Fats is not fat, but he is ample with his affection. His perfect home has no kitties or other animals. Watch the video below and please share it widely! We know that Fats' forever family is out there -- please help us find them! Adorable Adoptable
Meet Maddie!
Looking for an adventure buddy? Maddie is your girl!

Maddie is a fun, active black lab mix who is about a year old. She loves car rides and loves to go on hikes and explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest!

Maddie absolutely adores her people and will jump up on you to give kisses. Maddie enjoys playing with plush squeaky toys and chasing tennis balls.

While Maddie loves her friends, strangers can be scary for her, so she is looking for a quiet home without lots of visitors. If you would like to learn more about Maddie, please visit her adoption page!
Volunteer Spotlight
Meet Austin!
This month's Volunteer Spotlight is on Austin! Austin is a HUGE asset to the shelter through his tireless work on Transfer Team (our Rescue Me program), Grounds Crew, and as a Lead Dog Walker.

Every Monday and Friday afternoon, Austin comes in with a smile on his face and a spring in his step, ready to help some of our most special dogs and to serve as a mentor for the other walkers on his dog walking shift.

Beyond his dog walking shifts each week, Austin also drives to area airports to pick up animals for our Rescue Me program and brings them back to the shelter, often very late at night. Finally, as if all that wasn't enough, he stays late often to help maintain our grounds.

Just this week, he raised over $500 to buy
a new mower for the shelter, in under 24
hours! Thanks for all you do, Austin!
You rock!"
