City News

Update will suspend payment processing on Friday, Feb. 11

City customers will be unable to make payments online or in-person for many bills and services from Friday, Feb. 11, until Monday, Feb. 14, while a cashiering software update is completed.

Leisure facilities and programs are not impacted by the update, so residents will still be able to register for events, classes, and sports. The Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center will also not be impacted by the update.

The City’s online payment portal for other services including utility bills, permits, general bills, and business licenses will be offline while the update is completed. The online application process for these services will be unavailable as well.

Payment processing will be unavailable at the following facilities from Friday, Feb. 11, until Monday, Feb. 14: City Hall, the police department, the Pedro Castro Maintenance Center, Fire Station 3, the Sierra Vista Public Library, and the Vista Transit Center.

These facilities will not be able to accept debit or credit cards. Affected facilities will still be able to accept cash and checks during the update, as the payments can be processed once the cashiering system is back online. Customers are encouraged to wait until Monday, Feb. 14, to make payments if possible.

Extraordinary Activities

Adults ages 18 and up are invited to join us as we provide roundtrip transportation to the Tubac Festival of the Arts on Saturday, February 12.

Held in the historic art colony of Tubac, the annual Festival of the Arts is the Southwest’s longest running arts festival. Our Tubac Festival of the Arts Trip departs from the Ethel H. Berger Center at 8:30 a.m. and returns at about 5 p.m. The trips costs $30 per person and registration is now open at the Oscar Yrun Community Center and Ethel H. Berger Center.

Uncommon Recreation

Feel like some heroic fun? Children ages 10 and under are invited to join us for Superhero Saturday at the Sierra Vista Public Library on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Power through our superhero crafts, games, and scavenger hunt. Come dressed as your favorite Superhero! This event is free and supplies are provided.

Social Snapshot

Meet Gnomeo, our current resident cat room roamer at the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center. He likes to roam and sneak into open kennels and take any leftover food. Gnomeo would love to show you around his territory so you can meet the many friendly felines waiting for new homes!

Gnomeo is up for adoption too, but it will need to be to the right family. He’s a senior cat who has become a favorite among the shelter’s volunteers and has gotten used to getting lots of love and attention at the shelter.

City Announcements

The Sierra Vista Police Department reminds residents to always keep their dogs on a leash and maintain control while in public spaces, unless inside a designated dog park. Officers have received recent complaints regarding loose dogs in public parks and will be monitoring this issue as part of their patrols.
