To everyone who has made a donation of food or supplies, a financial donation, a contribution of volunteer service or has prayed for us, we are very grate ful.

The need for meals and groceries climbs

We are experiencing increased need for meals at the Community Shelter, whether through prepared meals for residential clients or grocery bags for community residents.

We have been fortunate to keep up with the demand, but as each week passes, we need more food product.

Want to donate food or service supplies? Bring to the “donations” door between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., avoiding mealtimes of 8 - 9 a.m., noon to 1 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.

Volunteers distributed staple foods and meat to 77 families with 158 members on Friday.

County health officials applaud Shelter facilities and procedures, saying ‘good job'

The Health and Environmental Health departments toured the Shelter last week in response to our request for a safety review of our facilities and operations.

We’re pleased to announce that their review resulted in an overall “good job” and “applaud your operations.” The officials made a couple minor suggestions to implement during this unusual time, and those have already been implemented.

Our staff are considered essential community workers, and CEO Kathy Bragg and COO Melissa McKeown are included in Emergency Operation Center communications.

We thank our local government for their continued support and their appreciation of the vital role the Shelter has in Union County.
