A new school year has begun and so has another year of Wilkes-Barre BBYO (B’Nai B’rith Youth Organization). We are looking forward this year to expanding our chapter membership and to continue to help our teens develop skills to become current and future leaders in our community. We know you will find our teen programs to be exciting and fun-filled as our members interact in our local chapter while also interacting with over 700 members from other cities in upstate New York, Philadelphia, Delaware and other areas in eastern Pennsylvania that are part of our region. Locally, our chapter sponsors diverse programs ranging from sports, culture, religious, community service and social activities. We also help the local Jewish and non-Jewish community with many different social service programs. Outside our local chapter we are part of the international structure of BBYO; and several times a year there are regional conventions, with each convention having a different theme and is hosted by different cities in our region. At this time of the year in the Wilkes-Barre area we are beginning the recruitment process for new members. Any Jewish teens from eighth grade to and including twelfth grade are welcome to join. If you are interested in joining us or have any questions please contact our current president Laurel Roth at 570-466-5631, or our advisors Hal Levine 570-814-70570 or Rachel Kislin at 570-574-7314.
