Grief Group

Pastor Nancy will be leading a Grief Group on Tuesdays from 1-2:30 pm, beginning May 13 and ending June 17. We will use the writings of Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt, working through his “Six Needs of Mourning”. Each week, we will work through one of the needs of mourning and conclude our time with a candlelighting ceremony to remember our loved ones.

If you or someone you know is mourning the loss of a loved one, please join Pastor Nancy for these six sessions. To register, please sign up here by May 6 online or email Pastor Nancy (pastornancy@shepherdshoreview.org) with your name and contact information so that we can have enough supplies for you.

Draft Social Message

on Child Protection

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at least one in seven children has experienced abuse or neglect in the last year. A new draft social message from the ELCA addresses this crisis and outlines the church's sacred responsibility to protect and nurture children. The ELCA Church Council authorized the development of the social message, as requested by the 2022 Churchwide Assembly. (Our synod was one of several synods that brought forth memorials on the topic.)

You are invited to read a draft of this social message and provide feedback on it to help strengthen the final document. ELCA social messages are teaching documents that draw from existing social teaching but focus direct attention on a particular social issue. The public comment period is open through June 30. Read the draft and complete an online survey.

Holy Hammers 2025

Holy Hammers is a grouping of many local faith communities that work together to pay for and provide volunteers for a Habitat build each summer. Shepherd is a contributing member of Holy Hammers. Members and friends of Shepherd continue to be involved in building several homes in the St. Paul area. In 2025 Shepherd (with Holy Hammers) will be doing interior work on 2 four-plex homes. Like last year, we are free to sign up for any Holy Hammer day from April 21 through June 20. However, Shepherd's target days are May 22 & 23. Women's only build days are June 12 & 13.

Sign ups for this year’s build are open for anyone from April 21-June 20.

Our special days for SOTH are May 5,6 and 22,23. Sign up HERE.

New this year is a way for an individual to directly donate to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity in support of the Holy Hammers project . This is done via a portal similar to go fund me and is tax deductible. You can donate HERE.

Contact Pete Evanson with any questions at this email or at 651-766-6851 or 605-520-6253(cell).

This year we are trying a Holy Experiment with a curriculum called Brewed Theology. This will give space for us to learn from one another and have safe space for difficult conversations through the lens of our faith alongside our community. And we are SO excited to try it out!

Pour Theology is a part of the Adult Faith Formation at Shepherd and ALL are Welcome!

We will gather, get our drinks and fill plates with appetizers, then dive into conversation.

We are meeting at Paninos in North Oaks!

Contemplative Practices

From the time of Jesus until today Christians the world over have engaged in contemplative practices and methods of prayer to help them to come closer to knowing the living presence of God in their lives and the world. We will gather on the second Sunday of each month, in between services, to experience a practice or prayer method to help us find God's presence in our center, in each other, and in the larger body of Life.

Join us THIS Sunday, May 11th for our last session!

Donation Reminder:

Here at Shepherd, we have many donation drives throughout the year to help care for our neighbors. We are so grateful for all that comes in through those drives.

Many of the drives are held at specific times and have specific asks due to the organization we are supporting's specific needs. As such we would ask that donations not come in for drives that are not currently happening or for items not being asked for. Shepherd does not have storage for drives not taking place or if items are not asked for places to take them.

Ralph Reeder has year-round donation bins for food and paper products in the Door G Hallway and Narthex and our other donation drives will have specific asks in our communications.

Please, feel free to reach out to Sister Tashina with any questions.
