Thank you

Dear Shepherd of the Hills Family,

Thank you so much for the love shown to Zach and me on the passing of Phil. Pastor Rosemary, you have been such a wonderful support through all of this with your visits, your wonderful homily and your kind, supportive smile during the service. Fellowship Committee, you provided a wonderful reception after a beautiful service. And family, you all have been so kind. God knew what he was doing when he sent me here. I am thankful for all of you!

Mark Your Calendars for The Empty Bowl

Fellowship Commitee is taking a trip-- to the Community Table in Sylva for the Empty Bowl fundraiser. Interested in going along? Meet at the church at 4pm on Friday, April 14th.

What is the Empty Bowl? Glad you asked! At this fundraiser for Community Table, you get to pick and keep a beautiful handmade pottery bowl created by local artisans. Then you can try any of the wonderful soups provided there in that bowl! A delicious meal that means meals for many.

The Fundraiser is from 4pm to 7pm on 4/14.

What Is That In The Fellowship Hall?

You may have noticed the cabinet in the corner of the fellowship hall and new materials on the short bookcase. We have an Alcoholics Anonymous group that has just started using our space for their meetings! The black cabinet holds books that can be purchased related to AA and the bookcase has pamphlets and books that can be borrowed.

The group meets on Monday and Friday nights at 6pm.

This group, as well as other events at our church, are also found on our Google calendar. CLICK HERE

Every Week is Holy Week

God called to Moses out of the bush, ‘Moses, Moses!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’ Then God said, ‘Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.’ --Exodus 3:4-5

We have reached the time of the year that the church calls Holy Week. Of course, this is not the only holy week of the year! Holy time and holy ground are everywhere.

The church year is a story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and the growth of the church. This week is when we tell the intense part of the story when Jesus is crucified, sealed in the tomb, and finally resurrected from the dead.

It is easy for us to think of this week, and especially Easter Sunday itself, as a single period of time during the year to celebrate these events. And yet, Jesus' resurrection is for the redemption of us and for all creation not just once but for all. In this way, every Sunday, perhaps even every day, is Resurrection Day!

Next week, keep celebrating holy week...the holiness of every week... and seeing all of our lives, all of God's creation, as holy ground!

An Offering of Food

Two items that are popular, have nutritional value, and provide a quick & easy meal for adults and children are canned fruit and peanut butter!

When you do your weekly grocery shopping, pick up a jar of peanut butter or a can of fruit (any kind) and bring it to the church. You can place it on the table in the Fellowship Hall.

Note: other food items are certainly accepted as well.
