Hunterdon Sheriff Notified By Residents About Several Scam Calls   Reminds Residents To Never Pay Alleged Fines, Warrants Or Utility Bills Over The Phone

During the pandemic there has been a serious increase in the number of reported scam calls that use threats of arrest or disruption of power and identity theft to steal funds from prospective victims Sheriff Fred W. Brown reported.   Sheriff Brown said, “Deceptive tactics, such as a threat of arrest and electricity being shut off or credit cards and checks being fraudulently ordered, disrupts an individual’s sense of security and causes many victims to feel embarrassed.” Click here for more information *photo credit: Debt.org

Hunterdon Historic Societies and Readington Museum Awarded Historic Grants   Grants Preserve Heritage and Support Tourism

The Lambertville, Delaware River Mill, and Hunterdon County Historical Societies, as well as the Readington Museums, will benefit from $35,000 in County History Partnership Program (CHPP) grants, approved by the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners in January.   Board of Commissioners Deputy Director Zach Rich, who serves as liaison to the County’s Cultural and Heritage Commission, said “These grant funds are valuable and important to continuing the operations of local societies and museums, enriching the lives of our residents and helping the tourism economy by drawing those interested in history to our area." New Rangers Add To Safety In Hunterdon Parks

Hunterdon County’s Park Rangers unit is now at its full complement, ensuring greater safety for park users, thanks to the recent appointment of four additional Rangers from the state’s newly promulgated civil service list, by the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners. Director Lanza told the group, “The Board had directed, as the county experienced some retirements and vacancies, that the Ranger team be brought up to a full unit and now, thanks to finally having a civil service list approved by the state, the full complement is on board."  Click here to read more

Hunterdon Board Director Seeks County Tax Rate Freeze Again In 2022 Board Director John E. Lanza said, “I am calling on the Board’s Budget Committee to work towards a 2022 budget that again freezes the county tax rate for the fourth consecutive year.”  Click here for the full story.
