"I'm Going to Need an Adjustment After This"

Fun Day Summer 2021 was a blast! The day is hosted by Chiropractic Student Government (CSG) and allows for students to take a well-deserved break from the rigorous doctor of chiropractic program. Students are provided lunch and t-shirts while playing games, tie-dying shirts, cooling off with water guns, and even getting free treats from a snowball truck! Casual dress and family are also allowed on Fun Day to add to the fun and excitement that this day brings.
Interns Join the Health Center

Twenty-seven interns are now ready to serve the community and see patients at the Sherman College Chiropractic Health Center, a teaching clinic for senior students in their final stage of internship prior to graduation from the doctor of chiropractic program. Interns celebrated the entrance of this final phase of their chiropractic education on July 16 during a pinning ceremony on the Sherman College campus. The college also streamed the event live on Facebook so interns' families and friends could watch it from afar. Catch the playback here.
Sherman Student Awarded ABCA Scholarship

The American Black Chiropractic Association (ABCA) held its annual National Convention this summer during which Sherman students were among the winners of scholarship awards. This year, Teresa Echols was awarded the "Well Deserved" scholarship. This award is presented to a student who has upheld the vision and purpose of the ABCA while being faced with great adversity. The mission is to integrate and improve outcomes for persons of color entering the profession of chiropractic. Learn more on their website.

Association Offers Financial Planning Webinar

The Sherman College Alumni Association held its first virtual webinar for members on Financial Planning for the Chiropractic Professional featuring 2016 alumna Dr. Christina Judon this month. Topics covered included types of loan repayment plans and what may be best for each individual, saving for retirement, protecting your family with various insurances, and budget tips.

Alumni Association president Dr. Jillian Farrell, '09, was thrilled to offer this program to members, saying, "I wish someone would have explained to me the importance of starting a retirement account earlier in my career so I could retire when the time was right to enjoy my silver years on my schedule." She went on to say, "This is the first of what I hope to be many professional and personal development opportunities we can give our members." Dr. Farrell also has plans for another event coming this fall.

The Alumni Association supports student scholarships, professional and personal development for members and Sherman students, and supports various initiatives at the college. If you're interested in joining this active community of alumni, please email the executive board at alumniassociation@sherman.edu.
