These are only suggestions and should be approved by a pediatrician before implementation. I am not qualified to diagnose, treat, or prescribe solutions for any known or unknown medical condition.
First, I wouldn’t give him a hard time about being overweight. We need to slow the weight gain, that’s all. He will grow into the right BMI if he starts eating right now. You’ll need to be ready to be strong as he probably is used to eating what he wants and when he wants to eat it.

Let’s address HIS plan:

1) He needs to drink at least half his body weight in water each day. This is about 60 ounces of water each day. Try to limit other beverages to unsweet tea, 1/2 serving of Advocare Spark (Not a full serving), Ocean Spray Diet, and other zero calorie beverages. Limit artificial sweeteners to 3 or less servings per day if any at all. Do not allow him to have any sugary drinks. Sugary drinks, I suspect is a problem based on the height/weight ratio. It is for most kids. Allowing sugary drinks is like allowing your child to shoot up with a syringe full of sugar. If he needs it he can have Gatorade Zero or Powerade Zero. This is much better than sugary drink alternatives.

2) Journal ~ Please manage his intake of food and beverage daily by writing it down so we can review in a month.

3) Food combinations ~ This is an important one. Please follow the meal plan below. Rather than worry about food combining, you can also choose foods from this list: www.travismartin.tv

4) Portions ~ Please limit him to only 3 eating episodes each day. Again, I suspect this will be a tough adjustment to make because he has gotten to eat what he wants and when he wants it. Portion control each eating episode in a 6-8” plate/bowl.

5) Timing ~ It is VERY important that he doesn’t eat anything with calories after the sun sets and not again until the sun rises. Please give him 3 “holimeals” each week. Every other meal needs to be Shibboleth kid perfect. Please go over this with his pediatrician before implementing.

Dinner
Limit this eating episode to 200-300 calories
• 1 cup of unstuffed cabbage rolls

• Using portion control container 6-8” plate or bowl; Too Die for Roast and Green beans

• Spaghetti; 1 cup of carbanada pasta….otherwise use Travis’ Spaghetti recipe in the website

• Hamburger Steak Patty and cabbage

• 6 ounces of steak with salad; please don’t use sugary dressings. He could have full fat ranch or full fat blue cheese but only 2 tbsp. You guys shouldn’t consume full fat dressing. I’d rather everyone use approved salad dressings found in the library but when eating out this is a little bit harder to do.

• Baby Back Ribs; one of your hands should be able to cover the full portion. You may add green beans as a side.
Any category 1+2 or 7+2 or 4+2 that is portion controlled.
Snacks
Snacks can elevate blood sugar some because there isn’t enough protein in them to counter balance the sugar or starch in them so limit to 200 calories or less.
• Up to 200 calories of popcorn. This counts as one eating episode.

• Healthwise, Double Bites or Quest chips only; up to two packages.

• Carrots and Ranch Dip; Ranch Dip should be the recipe online. Up to 1/4 cup with as many raw carrots as he wants.

• Sliced Bell Peppers with Ole Mexican Cheese Dip; 1/4 cup

• 1 cup of mixed berries

• 1 apple

• 1 cup of grapes

• 1/2 banana

• Up to 3 sugar free popsicles

• Up to 200 calories of any nuts or seeds
Freebies
• Sugar Free Jello

• 1/2 serving of Advocare Spark as a popciscle

• Boiled or Sautéed Cabbage

• Dill Pickles

Cook only in MCT oil, no oil, or with a cooking spray and only enough to make your recipe work.
Exercise
Consider teaching him healthy exercise habits by going for walks with him and counting steps. Make it fun for him by getting him a Fitbit. Bike with him. Set step goals that you both can aspire too even if you are just walking or running around the house. Play hide and go seek. Play tag. Try to make sure you guys at least break a sweat daily. Please do something you both enjoy until you simply break a sweat and then go at least 10-20 more minutes as soon as you break a sweat.
